The next beast tribe primal

After reviewing some of the recent live letter stuff, it struck me that now was a good time for rampant speculation about what the next beast tribe primal fight would be. Whether that's the fight that was hinted at or not I can't say, but I can say I'm fairly confident it would be something that mixes the elements of ice and lightning.

So I've been wracking my brain to try and figure out what that might be. SE threw a curveball at us with Ravana; an original primal with a fire and earth basis to his character. Then SE went traditional with Bismarck, a wind/water-aspected primal. Assuming SE follows the same pattern, it stands to reason than an ice/lightning hybrid would be next. Looking back historically, I think the best fit would be Tritoch/Valigarmanda from FF6, a fire/ice/lightning esper, that would just be modified down to an ice-and-lightning moveset.

But as SE showed with Ravana, they're more than capable of pulling out something original. Whether it's a traditional take or something new, I've excited to see what comes next. But I gotta admit, I really am rooting for Valigarmanda. Preferably after we find it in some abandoned mining town that we have to access after crossing a snowblasted field in magitek armor, with Biggs and Wedge by our side.

The only tribe left (unless they'll introduce new ones) are Mamool Jaa (which happens to consists of closely related species), Qiqirn and potentially those Giants wandering Mor Dhona.

Then we also have to consider the remaining Triad and which, if any, elemental combo they'll represent.

We might not even get one til expansion when they introduce new beastmen.

I actually wonder about the feasibility of a Lightning / Ice primal. Ravana and Bismarck are two elements each, but their elements sit right beside one another on the sides of elemental wheel. Not only are Lightning and Ice exactly opposite one another, but one is the "polar astral" element of the wheel, and the other the "polar umbral". Whether or not we can stretch the pattern that hard remains to be seen.

At least for this patch, I'm anticipating CONTAINMENT BAY X#Y# (Tonshin #2, where the ID reflects whatever Final Fantasy it might share some vague connection, like Sephirot and Thordan both have nods to FF7), the Extreme version of that, and also a scenario trial versus Estinihogg. But I don't know what to expect by the time beast tribes have an opportunity to be a thing again.

Fenrir.

1) We don't need a beast tribe to summon a Primal... Heck, at this point I'd say we could recycle existing tribes for new Primals, unless we want to be racist and say all Amalj'aa worship Ifrit when we know of at least one group that doesn't... Hipster Amalj'aa could walk around and summon Belias, "You've probably never heard of him". Human races can summon Primals too though, and given Greg accidentally summoned a Primal, I'd imagine there really isn't much stopping anything summoning a Primal, given the right circumstances...

2) Fenrir is already a boss? Pah! Read some of the Card/Mount/etc. descriptions, all signs point to the Snowcloak Fenrir being a hoarhound named after a legendary pack leader... That has Primal origin story written all over it...

3) Like you said, the next logical elemental aspect for the next Primal is Ice/Lightning. Well, we can already attribute Fenrir and Ice off our Snowcloak adventure, but I have no clue how to work Lightning in there, other than his purple coat in XI... Heck, in IX wasn't he Earth based? I'd actually like an Ice/Umbral Wolf Primal, given Fenrir is usually associated with the full moon...

All we really need is for a group of hoarhounds to stumble upon a cache of crystals, howl at the moon in honor of their legendary pack leader, and ops! They summoned Fenrir!

As far as Ice/Lightning goes, Ixion seemed like a popular contender for that... I mean Bismarck used to be just a whale, then XIV made him fly and slapped Wind on him, so why not take a Lightning Unicorn and slap Ice on it? Unicorns would seem to be native to icy Coerthas or something...

What about the Goblins? I mean, can we really say Alexander is technically theirs? A bunch of Au Ra made it... Well, not that they should be limited to one Primal anyway... The Illuminati can have Alexander, Brayflox can summon some Cheese based Primal, though...

Sephirot doesn't have any nods to FF7 beyond the music. Also, the next Triad battle is bound to be Zurvan (Demon/Kishin) and then Sophia (Godess/Megami), although I think they will wait until 4.0 to release the next Triad fights so they can release their beast tribes too.

The Cheese Weapon

I would like to believe that the next expansion might move onto more complex uses of primals like thordan and shiva, considering were probably going into a civil war it wouldnt surprise me if ala mighans try to do the rhalgr or something as a weapon for the battlefield, if thats the atmosphere we run into about freeing ala mhigo,(or we might do it democratically with the garleans for whatever reasons could arise) but who knows?

There was that attempt of the kids at Little Ala Mhigo trying to summon Rhaghr, but for now I want to see if they are willing to have Primal versions of the Twelve first with Halone, If the people of Ishgard aren't gonna summon her as a primal, when they are in the middle of turbulent times and with a certain fanatical group there, then we can safely assume Ala Mhigo aren't gonna do a Rhalgr Primal as well (at least without it failing again)

hmmm halone is widely worshipped by ishgardians, and they want nidhogg dead no matter what, and shes icy and the fury(lightning?) my bets on that would probably be the demon having some weird affinity, but maybe the halone thing is a possibility opening up a whole new threat for the scions as the beast tribes seem less coordinated than the established cities and population can be... very interesting

speaking of which about patron deities: wasnt it a while though that zodiark was a missing deity, later to be found out that he is literally half of hydalyn split apart? Im not an expert on the deities but I thought they might reflect aspects/personalities of hydalyn and the umbral/astral cycles, that being the case, and accepting half of hydalyn is in fact zodiark, would it be plausible to think that maybe half of the deities actually coincide with zodiark? or does he have his own patron deities? If thats so, would make sense louisouix had problems getting all 12 as putting positive and negative together just cancels it out? sorry to derail this thread and im no expert but the lore interests me so correct me if im wrong
