I'd really like to see SE make available the scenes or very least the story from 1.0. For those of us who want the story before RR. Or make an event out of it. Obviously they can't rerelease the whole game but that game had a lot of interesting back story relevant to now. Also would give players more attachment to the Scions lore. It's too much of a shame to let it all go to waste. Especially if they plan to move forward with the Empire storyline in the future. Just a thought.
1.0's story had a few layers - some were discarded, some were stripped for parts and retold in ARR, and some were specifically bigged up to be the limited-time scenario available to those who decided to pay for a game that, despite clearly having potential, was definitely too broken to be charging for. Only the latter was told in a complete, coherent way (mostly). If you don't mind some long-winded reading, I rebuilt and archived that part here (with gaps filled in and facts checked by the Lore Team, who are undisputedly the best).
SE released a disc called Waning of the Sixth Sun which (PRO) re-told a lot of it with some big bonus info, but (CON) there are gaps and it's not all tied together. Still, it's on YouTube! Speaking of YouTube there are also a lot of cutscene playlists and recap videos that (PRO) require less reading and do some explaining, though (CON) most of them contain (relatively minor) errors, I've noticed.
It's possible SE could do something more official, but I wouldn't hope too too hard for it. In pretty much all facets of development, they've stayed pretty hard to the course that all new content trumps all other considerations of old content. It's why they're not prioritizing flight in 2.0 areas, for example. I think they're hesitant to do anything but crunch out big, new things until they don't have the resources to do so, at which time they might go back and polish / revisit retread the past.
As Moose stated, 1.0's original story... was somewhat muddled in it's execution, not helped by the original storyline being truncated and effectively abandoned when Yoshi took over as producer and decided to replace 1.0 with ARR - thus the game's narrative was changed to involve the Seventh Umbral Era storyline to explain the changes that ARR would bring to Eorzea and the original game's eventual shutdown and replacement with ARR and it's new zones and narrative. Accordingly, the old 1.0 storyline, was effectively cannibalized for ideas and concepts for ARR's story, as the two share similar concepts.
In fact, it's pretty telling that the original (1.0 starting city/Path of the Twelve) 1.0 storyline was retconned as it didn't even feature in the 'Waning of the Sixth Sun' video that came with ARR's Collector's edition which Moose mentioned - the scenes shown are almost exclusively for the 7th Umbral Era storyline showcasing the rise of the Grand Companies and the whole Meteor project. The original storylines of the player arriving in their starting city, encountering the Archons for the first time, discovering they have the Echo, and throwing in their lot with Minfilia and the Path of the Twelve... was never shown...
So personally, I don't think SE are going to bother touching too much on the old 1.0 stories, certainly there might be times where certain characters and events are raised or mentioned (or even shown in Echo flashbacks), but I don't think we will ever see a full-on Wings of the Goddess-style expansion returning the narrative back to the pre-Calamity era, as that truly is history. In fact, the achievement for completing the whole 7th Umbral Era story in 1.0... all but shouts this - it is called Once in a Lifetime!
No sadly, 1.0's story is gone and is never coming back I'm afraid.
