Yay! Making friends!

Almost three months into the game, and I have the same amount of people on my friend's list. All FC members, and two I know irl. I do have severe social anxiety which makes logging in more difficult. I came into the game hoping to make lots of friends, and sadly gil seller spam keeps my status constantly on busy, but sometimes I wonder if it is just an excuse.

So today, I am wandering in Mor Dhona, and I run across a fellow WHM in nearly the same gear and level as me. Earlier I saw her questing the same things I was, and there are those awkward moments when you can tell a player is examining you. So I examine her and see her accessories are outdated. But in a fate she cured and stoneskin'ed me. I just so happened to have an extra set of LV39 accessories, so I switched my status and asked if she would like an upgrade. She accepted and then we did a couple more fates!

I probably accomplished something far more difficult than anything the game mechanics have to offer lmao :)

Good that you made friends; I think it's fun when you accidentally run into people like this, haha
(I've made lots of friends while waiting for gathering nodes.... it gets p boring sometimes)

This story reminds me of how mmorpg encounters with other players were in the past.

...if only we had more reasons to go outside the cities, we probably had more people interactions. As for me, I don't have a reason or need to go outside of my plot since that I can do everything I want right there. I even have the armoire and the barbershop so going to cities is pointless for me too: I only go to Idyllshire when I need to grab my gear, and cities for my job's quests.

I kinda hope we'll get more motivation to exit our boundaries because I simply have no reason to move from my "shell"

That first step is often the scariest when talking to someone new on a game, you never know how they will react upon opening a dialogue but thats ultimately all part of the fun. x3

Sadly this is what I do on my server because I barely speak Japanese, although most people there really friendly like instead emote on me because maybe I'm roegadyn lol. I always hangout with neigbor and some linkshell friend. My first outside friend is someone I've met from frontline since slaughter come lol. Hoping I can met others if I can fluently speak Japanese.

I wish: my linkshells are dead, all of my previous FCs died out, all of my "friends" (mind the quoting) are long gone. My neighbors are fine even though we never speak to each others, but I'm ok with that.

Now if I go to Ul'dah it's another story but I'm kind of skeptical in terms of rp nowadays so I simply don't care. Limsa and Gridania are fine but I just go there for visiting or quests, especially events. I still don't have a reason to go there overall: all of the things I need are literally 2 steps away from my house. Only thing missing is quest givers and tome rewards and I wouldn't even need to teleport once!

Lucky that you got a reason to go out at least! Frankly if I could I'd leave for good but I just am not ready to leave my beloved house...."sigh"

I know. It's really sad. Especially since it seems players are open to interacting with others, but won't reach out. There's so many nice people in the community we pass up daily as our heads are buried in the grind. And if someone like me can do it, other people can too! Hopefully I can inspire others to leave their comfort zones. :)
