Can I queue in the duty finder as dps with my lancer, then play a lower level class in a different category while I wait?

Does it keep track of what I joined as, and let me switch back to lancer when my name comes up?

Or do I have to stay as lancer while I'm waiting?

Nope you can freely change jobs while in queue. You'll just need to change back once you get the dungeon notification.

The real big issue is the "must change back" one though. Always make sure you can easily leash any monsters to get out of combat so you can switch. Nothing like having hate on a bunch of FATE mobs being tanked by other people so you can' swap until they're dead or you're halfway across the map.

You'll have also to skip any cutscenes you are currently in and abandon any levequests you have going when it pops.
