Now that the dust has settled down a bit, it's painfully obvious that DPS mains are dominating the top 100 because they have the highest carrying potential. From next season onwards, I suggest changing it to a top 50 for each role in each data center.
Top 50 tanks, top 50 melee, top 50 ranged, top 50 healer. Same rating system as before.
This will also increase the PVP population because there will be 2x as many rewards given out. We don't even have to do top 50 - we can still do top 100 for each role if we like. It'll also be easier to tell who is best in their role because they are not fighting for the same rankings as other roles.
Of course, the downside to that is people who like to play multiple roles. If you want to play multiple roles, you will have separate ratings for each role.

I'd say the higher pool of dps in the rankings has less to do with "carrying" and is more reflective of the higher population of dps classes in general.
If any class has the ability to "carry" a team, It's probably the healer.
To comment on your idea though, I'd much rather see them do something about the rng nature of the ranking system. Performance needs to be based on something other than just win/loss ratio.
It's rediculous to me that someone who played only 150 games can be in a higher ranking than someone who did nearly 600 games. And can maintain that lead without even participating in pvp anymore. -

say a good healer can carry, yes but healer can't carry the loose of bad dps, dps can't carry a bad healer because bad healing will kill the dps in question ect...
but be good can lead to a 60 % victory, a ratio of 40% make diffult to get up in the ranking, because you get up and get down almost all the time with this ratio, you need more victory to get up
but yes maybe SE should analyzing if some JOB can carry more victory and make this system if it's needed -

Biggest issue I have currently is how luck based the whole affair is... It's entirely dependent on getting a good team, nothing more... As for top role... I'd still rather just see top Job... Making it role based just shines a spotlight on balance concerns, which is arguably good for getting SE to address them, but mid-season that's utterly terrible... Making it Job based does the opposite, balance concerns become less of an issue, because Dark Knights are being ranked against other Dark Knights, not Paladins. Change it to top 100 (or top 50) getting the furnishing, top 10 getting the gear, and top 1 getting a special piece of gear to show off (right now I'd say that's the crown, in future, since it could be Job based, that could be a special weapon). Then you go from there currently being 100 sets of the gear, to their being 130. Lock the gear to the Job as well, so it can only be shown off on the Job its earned on. Then you've got a meta where people might jump onto a Job that's unpopular for an easy shot at getting into the top 10, but that fact alone is likely to balance out numbers its own, and even if it doesn't, we'll all know "X Job didn't even have 10 people competing, that armor means nothing". -

You can be the greatest healer in the entire game, but that wont carry DPS who can't focus a single target. While heals are very important, they wont secure the win sadly.

If I'm paired up with a sub-par dps (someone who just doesn't do good damage, doesn't follow marks, or doesn't watch for hard switches), it's really hard to kill someone IF the healer on the other team is good and watching for my burst. Similarly, it's super hard to burst someone down if the tank/healer isn't properly CCing the rest of their team. However, if I have a good DPS partner, we can carry a sub-par healer because we won't be taking much damage (we'll kill at least one of the other dps before they have a chance to unload on us).Quote:

Its nice idea to have healer 3 rankings, like you said ... healer, tank, dps.
Anyway matching system also need rework. Currently its working based on avarage ranking. Eg you have one gold in team, enemy got one gold in team, you have one unraked enemy will have unranked.
But it can create situation when gold healer is matched against golden dps while rest of team is unraked or bronze(silver, etc). That will create bad situation.
It should be made way that gold healers are matched against gold healer dps against dps and tanks against tanks. -
