Asking how to "use" the rolls. I go to a inn and select "use" from a roll and it tells me "Unable to use that item". So I target the orchestrion and try again and it gives me the same message. The active help doesn't explain much and neither does youtube. Also how to I apply faded copies to a orchestrion roll?
NM cant use in a inn...lame. But question stands for faded copy to a orchestrion roll.
You have to get the actual rolls crafted.
Assuming you have a faded copy, the appropriate grade blank roll, and the appropriate ink, an Alchemist can craft the correct roll that you then just use straight from your inventory
Also be aware that you don't need to be standing in, on, near, or even in the same zone as an orchestrian to learn the music. Much like a mount or pet, learning the music adds it to your personal music list which can be used at ANY jukebox you have access to and you can learn them in any location. Also there are a few vendors that sell already completed rolls. For instance the same vendor in every city that sells racial gear also sells the music roll for that city with the exception of foundation and that vendor (found in the far end of the jeweled cozier) sells it along with tools or something.

Just to add on (if you are part of an FC or will join one in the future):
If you have permissions to select the song playing in your FC house's orchestrion, you will see the same list as what you have unlocked. Same goes for all other individual players in your FC. Why this is important to note is because if you'd want to hear something that's *not* on your list but someone else has it, they can select it (if they have the appropriate FC permissions) and you will be able to hear the song in your FC house.
