Can they not fix linkshells earlier?

This whole LS management thing really needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. I've just come back to the game, enjoying it, been playing for a few days. Now my issue, 0 of my friends came back and 0 of my old LS members are still around. I've checked out shells on Besaid (even added one guy from here who just hasn't been online the same time as I have), and most shells are getting pretty picky about recruiting. I don't blame these shells one bit, every patch, new influx, and people leave. They then have to reform and the cycle begins a new.

Anyhow, to returning players or new players, this flat out sucks. The world is empty enough as it is (minus ul'dah), they really need to just add a remove member feature sooner rather than later. If I leave again, it'll be because of a poor linkshell system which is completely ridiculous.

why this hasent been taken care of even last year when people complained about is confusing. Is being able to add and kick from a distance too hard for the servers?

and people seriously want to pay full price per month for this.....seriously.

When are they fixing this? Not until new servers?

There must be something on the back end that is EXTREMELY broken with this, some kind of spaghetti code that makes it really hard to sort out. I can't imagine them not fixing it by now otherwise. We've gotten a dozen dev/rep responses saying "It's coming but it's not very close, we're sorry!"

Tell us why? Please? What's going on over there and why the hell can't I kick people who've quit?

I guess we can just speculate wildly until bad rumours do irreparable damage to the company...

I think there are two potential reasons.

The first, like you say, that whoever designed the network/server structure made it up as they went along (without any clear idea of what was actually needed).

The second possibility is that all personnel are busy working on the new server and can't be bothered to patch the old servers since it's an excercise in futility anyway, considering that (according to this forum) 80% are happy to pay for this game with or without this basic feature.

Edit: Oh and apparently the third possibility is it's coming in 1.20?

Then it's a good thing linkshell changes are being addressed in 1.20, which is coming out right before we start paying. :cool: What exactly they're improving isn't known, but I'd imagine they're taking care of the major problems we have now, such as being able to remotely kick/promote members.

I think you missed where they said "patch 1.20 and beyond." Sure, we're probably not getting all the fixes we want, but it's a start.

Also, the search function of the forums is pretty handy.

EDIT: I suppose they didn't specifically say, "Linkshell improvements are coming in 1.20," but I doubt they would have mentioned 1.20 if they didn't already have at least some changes coming then.

I put the edited text in my first paragraph just to make it flow better, but I saw you had already quoted me, so I changed it back, haha.

I'm not too bothered by it, it's not a game-breaking issue for me by any means. But I definitely understand some people's frustrations. I'm just saying, I don't think they would have even mentioned that they're planning stuff for "1.20 and beyond" in the same answer pertaining to linkshells if they didn't already have intentions to fix at least something at that time. But you're right, we'll just have to hang tight and wait.
