Your funny, embarassing, mistakes and weaknesses as a new player

We all make mistakes and have a learning curve when starting a new game, especially with MMOs where cooperating with others is essential. As per the title, what funny, clueless things did you do as a new player in FFXIV? Or, what can you do now on auto-pilot that you struggled with as a sprout?

Share your experiences and show new players (and reminder more experienced players) that we've all been there. Such stories can be fun to reminisce over and encourage people new to the game who are wondering if they are alone in making such goofs. :o

Can't change the top title seen on the forum topics list, but as a returning player and with the new sprout for players like me, there's also all of the funny and embarrassing mistakes that those who have been away for a while are making! Share and get if off your chest :)

[And yes, there's always another "reborn" pun to be made. No, it won't stop until the server closes...]

I used to think Straight Shot was better than Heavy Shot because it hit twice.

I thought wearing gatherer gear will increase the material drop rates of mobs I killed

My iLVL was about 22 until I got the AF gear.

And yes it was a mix of combat, gathering, and crafting gear.

I would Bane before Bio stuck... a lot.

I wasn't aware (for months, maybe a year) that you could teleport to the aether crystals around the towns from the large, main aether crystal. I never bothered to click "Aethernet". I would Return to town, sprint to the nearest crystal, and be on my way.

When I first started I thought the WAR was mainly a DPS class but more heavily armored so it could partake in Offtanking. Boy was I surprised when I entered my first dungeon.

I started the game as a WHM, and got completely and utterly destroyed by Titan the first time around.

I thought Gladiator was a DPS class and didn't actually tank anything until around level 40 when I realised what my job was.

I thought duty roulette (low level) at that time gives roulette and bonus exp each duty, after doing a dozen time in a day which most of em were consist of ifrit story, i noticed that i didn't get any level at all..

Also when i just newly leveled scholar to 30, i used to heal in cleric stance because my mind status is higher in cleric stance on compared to not in stance.. Didn't know about the heal penalty percentage.. But in my stance, the amount of heal from level 30 scholar was not that much differ when in cleric stance or not..
