Chocobo in real life?
so, most of us all saw that amazingness that would have been the ChocoGo app...and wished it were real...
But I have a question...in the video, they showed chicks...
Do y'all think that a Chocobo grows from a chick that small, or something more towards the size of the minions. And then again, do you think that with some genetic engineering, we could possibly produce something similar using the DNA and genetics from similar, large flightless birds?

I'm still wondering how they'd function at all with their wings seemingly attached directly to their spines (Bird Skeleton vs. Chocobo)
But could it start that small and grow that big? Ehhh... They certainly do in most Final Fantasies - from average chicken chick to super mega ostrichicken. IRL, I'd have my doubts if you wanted it to grow up to be as empathetic and clever as a chocobo. But I'm no ornithologist.
Is there a measure of the ratio of average baby size to average adult size in a given organism?
That seems like it'd be a thing with a name I could Google about birds...

It's certainly possible that there are extinct large, flightless birds that could resemble a Chocobo's physiology. But such cloning/ genetic modification is beyond us for now. At the very least people can ride an Ostrich:

As a good general test for what's hypothetically possible through genetic engineering, look at the number of different breeds we've managed to produce within a single species when it comes to dogs. Selective breeding is itself a form of genetic engineering -- just much slower and less predictable. A problem that crops up with larger breeds of dogs, though, is the increased heart strain that comes with the size. Something similar might be a consideration if we start, say, breeding huge ostriches.
As far as the main question goes, I always figured FF14's chocobos were born just a little smaller than the Wayward Hatchling minion. Still small enough to be cute, but not so ridiculously tiny as they are in FF13.

Naturally aggressive and intelligent birds with razor sharp claws and beaks. So it'll be like yellow feathered velociraptors.

... I don't know if i would like to have an huge yellow ostrich on my backyard. Think on all the manure and Gysahl Greens it would demand -- If they ate greens at all.
