Gathering is different than crafting in that you do not need any of the other gatherers leveled to be successful at one. I'm a 60 miner, geared out in the red scrip gear and I can collect anything in the game (except for the legendary nodes as I haven't purchased the tomes yet).
I would suppose it depends by server on what sells better/more frequently, but IMO miner might be the best for making gil.
I would say BTN. They supply a lot of CUL mats and you know people want those. It also is the least popular between BTN and MIN so less inflation. I cant speak for FSH.
I'm just gonna focus on Armorer Culinarian and Botanist for now then I guess instead of trying to power level everything at the same time
I have both mining and bot up to level 60 and, hands down, mining makes WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more gil then bot does. Yes, bot is good for cul, but mining is good for all the classes, including cul. I shouldn't tell you this. You're on my server. >.>; But mining is the way to go. I haven't honestly made a whole lot with bot. I know some mats would sell but I'd rather just do mining because more things sell faster.
This is a distinction you have to learn for endgame mats: most things at the nodes are worthless. In generally, it's the ore (not the worm ore or unspoiled/legendary ore -- unless it's HQ) that make the big bucks. With bot it's the lumber and the wvr mats, and some other things. Like most of the uncut stone you'll find in nodes are worthless.
I'm kind of satisfied with focusing on BTN over MIN. I don't usually sell what I gather because I tend to stick to only what I can use. BTN and FSH has made me almost entirely self-sufficient in providing for my CUL, which is still my main source of income. If you plan to sell what you gather or plan to make money outside of CUL, MIN should definitely be your focus.
FWIW you'll benefit more with BTN than with FSH, but you would still need both. The only problem you may have is with mats that are monster drops, though that can easily be compensated by hunting ventures.
I'm in the process of making my crafter gear. It's very expensive. That's actually why I'm leveling my fisher. I spent like 800k last weekend making 3 or 4 pieces, even after I made and gathered like 98% of the material myself. xD
Hunting ventures are very bonus, especially when capping your weekly red scrips. They're a godsend.
