Churning Mists : Landlord Colony

So I was flying around Churning Mists today, bored waiting for Duty Roulette to pop. When I flew under and noticed this:

Those pillars, holding up the bridge seem to go all the way down to the ground, or at least I assume so. That,s quite a feat of engineering and/or magic.

But also, near their base is this grouping of lights:

I can't remember anything being mentioned about these from the CM sidequests, and I flew around the Forelands trying see something, but nothing. Do we have any info about this? It just seems odd to build it like that, and the lights got me wondering. I don't think they have anything to do with VA.

The lights are not anything involved with the Ishgardian ancestors. Instead they are the void ark, a raid you unlock at a later time if you haven't already.

The lights appeared static when I was looking. Making me think they werent the VA, which from what I have seen, moves along the north of the map at a good pace. But just because I haven't seen it like this doesn't mean much I guess. Going to see if these lights are still in the same spot tomorrow.

There are multiple sopts light shines through that I had always attributed to Aether, these just seemed like more.

Would still lime to know where those come down though, and with their scale, why CM went unnoticed for 2000 years. A few pillars dissapering into the clouds should certianly raise som questions.

The lights are the Void Ark, you can see by the distinct coffin shape and nineties purple glow.

Those pillars are cool though. I want to find where they come up from the ground, maybe in sohm al? There could be a pot of gold there... Or a troll.

I always assumed those structures were to do with balance and stability rather than anchoring to something. Assuming the buildings float due to high levels of Aetheric Wind in the stone its possible that they need to have the downward facing spires to keep the center of gravity of the structures close to ground level. From an engineering point of view it would be even more important since the buildings connect to other floating structures so stability would be very important to keep the connection points from cracking.

I wonder if it was a fragment of Dalamud or Bahamut's shattered body that landed there. There appears to be holes that could be caused by an impact.

Yeah, I have to agree with the rest. Here's an older post prior to VA being accessible and compare that with clouds/mist covering it. It's roughly the same type of outline
