The Lore so far of the Holy See of Ishgard and overall Coerthas

Hello there, everyone!



Was wondering about the lore of the Holy See of Ishgard and also overall Coerthas. I did my research on the topic here on the forums, but most of the info was in the french-side of the lodestone, and well... My french is awfull! XD

What i'm focusing more here is the intrincasies of the city-state: How does it actually work, what about the Elezen that dwell there and so on. Am playing through Heavensward right now, but even on an expansion focused on Coerthas and Ishgard, i still feel we have too little information about the city and it's people per se.

On the top of my head, in order to increase one's social rank within Ishgard, people can enlist into the Convictor's - A unit who's goal is to kill as many dragon as possible. In other words, the more dragon you kill the better the chances a person could be recognized and raise is standing in Ishgard. A peasant can -in theory- become a knight. A former noble could earn respect/ prestige by proving he could kill dragons.

However, Dragon-hunting is competitive and there are many cases of people killing each other/ stealing other's dead dragons in a desperate attempt to win that prestige.
