Crafting as a public service (policy question)

Hello folks,

I've been wondering about this for quite some time now, probably since i saw the 1st PF entry with a player offering his/her services as a 1star crafter. I've read multiple things since then, contradictory most of the times. As HW came out, i was expecting we could explore the more social aspects of the game by opening my own shop. I guess it's not planned for anytime soon ^^.
Since we can have our retainers show and sell in FC/Private gardens, my questions is this :

Are we allowed to make publicity outside the game about selling stuff
(items crafted or gathered for in game currency only)?
i.e "will be focusing on fresh fish from the Hinterlands next week, come and check my retainers on server X, plot X, etc." or something close to this, using the lodestone blog options, events or social media outside the game ?

Any tips and official intel appreciated , sorry if this has already been answered (couldn't find it :S).

I don't have any official answers (sorry), but as long as it's purely about ingame money it should be fine. Back before we had the marketboard, there were huge communities all over the internet posting about what they were selling in the market wards and where and that kind of thing was encouraged.
Now of course that's old info, but generally everything is okay as long as it isn't contradictory to the rules you agreed on. Since you want to trade an ingame service (crafting) for ingame goods (Gil), there shouldn't be any problem.
If you are afraid of something like the housing-problem where SE banned people for giving up their houses for Gil (which is also a purely ingame transaction and therefore somewhat similar), you have to keep in mind that it counted as an attempt to destroy other people's playing experience because the housing mafia withheld a limited resource (housing plots).
Everyone can level up their own crafters to their heart's content though, so you offering your services does not negatively impact their ability to enjoy the game.

Well thank you, i basically wanted to do this for the of my own amusement. I think i somehow came to think we could open our own shops and cherished the idea since they began teasing about the housing system.. a long time ago ^^' .
I definitely have no intentions of making it about anything but ingame features. Don't want to ruin a game i invest so much of my time in. And yes, i kinda had the bans because of house/lots selling thing in mind when i wrote this. Since PF still shows some of them every once in a while and there is a REAL need for more plots. Can't wait the see the flat sharing and new lots in 3.3.
I will seriously consider building some sort of showcase on social media, as long as it's fun ;)

What I really want is to have a chocobo cart like the ones you ride in on during the opening sequence. Ones that maybe have dedicated zones where you can park them for people to come and look at your wares. Possibly have your retainers run and be able to upgrade and decorate like housing. I think a commerce area or a few would make a really fun interaction between players!!!

That's an awsome idea :) i never ever thought about those carts since that cutscene. I really would L O V E that ! ^^
I kinda was expecting the housing system to come with a commerce area feature, I'd love my own Thurs to have his own shop !! And it'd make a nice break from combat, adding a little flavour to crafting and alternative to MB.

so long as its all in game you shouldnt have issue.

plus anything thats on your retainers in garden are on the mb aswell and you are completely allowed to trade with pllayers.

using pf to advertise is the only potentially dodgy part but like you said peole have been doing that forever too so shouldnt be an issue.
