Healer + ps4 controller
Ive just recently started playing this game(its fantastic btw) and in the past ive always been a healer type class in mmo's. So my question is, is it even a viable option to be a healer while using a ps4 controller or should I plan on switching to mouse/keyboard?

Once you get truly used to the targeting system, you'll be more than capable. :)

Party healing is extremely easy and quick with controller. Healing outside of party takes a bit more experience with the targeting system, but run some of the 24man raids and make the effort (I'll try to keep up regents on the MT and even do some urgent heals) and it'll get easier over time.
That being said, all the difficult healing in this game is done in party

You will need to mess with your settings a bit on your cross-hot bar and set up filters too helps a lot. Any class can be played on ps4.. Currently I'am trying to get used to playing with extend cross-hot bar <<wish i had tried it 3 yrs ago can't break my old playing style always reverting back. lots guides out there on setups and good luck:)

I don't have any advice to give to be honest since I don't play on controller but one of the best SCHs I know plays on a controller so yes, it's incredibly viable but may be difficult at first. Just don't get discouraged and keep it up :)

Thanks a bunch for the friendly responses! I will definitely be giving it a try.

It is definitely very viable.
It is just as good as a keyboard and mouse
ALTHOUGH
it will take some more practice to be able to get very good with it on a controller, especially if you are a SCH with how much hotbar space it uses.
Dont fret though, as long as you are willing to learn, it just takes a bit of practice

Yeah healing is fine on controller - but you can make your life silghly easire at times with setting up target filters you can quickly swap between to be able to more easily change targets.
Party healing though is really easy with just up and down on the Dpad to select party members.
