Full Crafted Disciple of War/Magic HQ Gear - Does anyone else feel this way?

Now keep in mind, this hasn't just started happening, I mean I've been seeing people in full crafted War/Magic gear since 2.0 (it was more acceptable back then too), but today I saw someone with it fully melded and everything. Now don't get me wrong, a full set of item level 220 gear is sexy as hell when you put 5 melds on every piece, but the sheer cost of it alone or the wasted potential in profit makes me cringe. It's really not hard to replace that gear with Midas normal turn ins and Tomes of Lore gear, and every piece you buy of it will be like you burning 6-800k gil per armor slot. I don't know, maybe I'm just too tight with my funds, and maybe if you have every crafting class to 60 it's probably not too big of a deal. It just hurts when you don't currently have a way to make that kind of money easily (I'm not gonna jump into crafting until 5.3 XD).

On my Paladin I'm using a full set of HQ 220 crafted left side armor for the simple fact that I leveled an Armorer to make my own gear and so rarely do I ever get the chance to actually do that. My favorite part about patch 3.2 was increasing the usefulness of the crafted armor. It wasn't the smartest choice financially though :p but the principle of the matter was important to me.

What annoys me is this game doesn't support crafted gear. Well I mean to say, the overall community mindset (due to the games functions) don't support crafted gear, aside from when you're with a static.

To the majority, the only thing that matters is ilvl, not stats. Say I have for arguments sake crafted gear that's ilvl 100 that blows 110 gear out of the water. However party finder or duty finder demand 110 to even join the group.

I'm don't blame this mentality though cause stats are meh. No special abilities or trait increases from gear and not even a wide range of stats to focus on. Really limits the customization.

You can thank specialist shit for that.

Probably more people use it if not required shit like HQ mats for tomes, specialist recipes, who makes the item even more expesive, a Hasty Touch skill which fails all the time and make craft a fucking RNG shit, nodes that spawn every 1 hour or 30 minutes ,but are fucking hard get more than few HQ items because the system cap at 15%HQ rate, and other stuff. And don't make me talk about the pentameld "8% success rate" because is hilarious.

Only few people are able to craft it because it has the specialist and the gear and they prefer put prices like 700000 gil per piece in MB. They need to STOP make specialist specific recipes, make hasty touch less stupid crap and don't make poeple gather for hour for a single item. No one use it, because is tedious get/craft it. Specially when you can get 220 form Midas and 230 from lore.

Don't get me wrong, it is okay if it is laboriousa nd take time, but all the shit I mention before together is just spent hours and hours to make a single item (or spent gil like crazy). And of course, the terrible thread of failure thanks to our "Hasty Touch" shit.

Problem is they don't have set bonuses in this game or id see a real benefit to a crafted set if it had extra bonuses and they can do it the Grand company gear has set bonuses.

Some 5-melded crafted gear can be B.I.S. until the 240 piece, some of which you can only get by clearing A8S. Lore pieces are sometimes below because of weaker (or fewer) secondary stats. Ergo, for many players, it is the Best In Slot they can get until the next patch.

It's a great time for crafted gear, not very different from when ARR was new and Vanya was actually pretty comparable to Allagan or the 90 class-specific Tomestone gear.

Eh. I wouldn't make a full set. Some of the secondaries are cringe-worthy compared to the equivalent options.

I got the gauntlets because both prototype and lore gauntlets have parry on them and #*$& parry.

I have full sets of 220 crafted on my alts for a few reasons:

• It's quick and easy compared to Midas and Lore farming
• The cost is small for an omnicrafter; 11 pieces of gear took about 5M worth of mats, many of which I had on hand
• It's a huge upgrade, since I haven't spent much time gear farming for them in the past
• I don't do content on them that comes close to requiring BiS gear

I think I have 7 crafted pieces on my BLM main, that won't be replaced until I get 240 gear to replace them. They are substantial upgrades from the old pieces, and will assist in getting that better gear.

Well, I wouldn't bother going such lengths unless I did progression raiding. I mean, I don't even bother to meld and I can clear the content I actually enjoy doing just fine, so that'd be a massive waste of money for me - money which is precious, I own a total of like 3 mill gil >_>

Probably a good alternative for people who just don't know what to do with their gil-heaps anymore.
