3 Star craft help

Hey guys,

I need help with 2 things.

1- My gear is not the best, so usually when I craft a 3 star item i get 70-80% HQ.
This means i get normal items from time to time.

Selling those takes forever, so whats a good way to use those items for?

2- I am using 180 MH + 170 OH + melded white gear.
Thought about getting full 170 right side but after checking the stats and melds on paper it didn't seem to add much. Unless I use materia V and over meld with alot of VI, the gain is minimal.

How do players get better HQ%? do they use blue gear on left side?

Meld yourself so that you can reach 3 star stats without the use of food or your Specialist stone. Then be sure to use that food and that specialist stone (at least for now, come 3.3 just the food for your non-specialists). Also, use HQ materials.

I found that, with proper melding (no TV Materia here! - Just a lot of TIV overmelding, and TIII Control overmelding on the i170 OH) I could reach 3 star stats, unassisted, with mostly i170 gear. My highest geared crafter is LTW, which is currently only missing the pants; the rest is i170 with an i180 MH. I reached 3 star stats with that class before getting the i170 necklace and bracelet though. The Crafting requirement is very easy to reach - it's the Control (and the need to max out each piece's CP first) that will get ya.

Hey there. You have a few options:
- sell them at a lower Price
- equip your retainer with it
- give it to someone else that wants to equip their retainer with it
- Spirit bind it in Diadem (should be doing that with Sky Pirate Gear though)

Three star crafts are very easy to HQ with the right Rotation. 437 CP after buff food is all you need.

(You need to add more Flawless Touches since you want to use it for 3 Star recipes, not 2 star.)

Play around with Ariyala's tool. It's very helpful. In your case I would only suggest to get the ilvl 170 belt and ilvl 180 Body. If you have melded your white gear well enough, you should reach 3 star stats using Seafood Stew and have enough CP for the mentioned rotation.

(Replace the 180 offhand with the 170 one and put in as much materia as you need.)

you really wanna get right side gear for ilvl 170 HQ with full CP meld for one only reason and thats the ammount on CP!
CP is king in HQ crafting not the ammount on craftsmanship or control.
you can easy HQ every craft with only the minimum stats as long you have enough CP.
i would recommend you to have at least 413 CP without food thats a good comfort for HQ crafting.
i would recommend to before you meld your gear think about which food you will use for crafting.
"Seafood stew" give control wich helps you to save gil on expensive melds but it worth a lot around 70-100k on our market, i use this but i craft in on my own and gathering all items on my self.
"baked onion soup" give craftsmanship which means you need reach 820 control without food, expensive gear and melds needed.

i have on my specialist class 850/820 and 413+ CP and i can HQ all 2 star and 3 star with mostly only NQ items.
