PLD and their Lore Tome Disadvantage

As it currently stands, the Lore Shield is the best shield in the game. The Lore Sword is not. Because of how the Lore Sword and Shield are both required to trade in, a PLD is forced to spend 700 Lore they could spend on other pieces for a sword they may never actually use.

So by "Disadvantage" you mean they are equal to everyone who has to pay the same amount of lore for their weapon?

He means the stats on the shield are different from that on the sword.

No, I think he's referring to trading them in for an upgrade. Since you can't upgrade the shield without the sword, you're forced to spend additional lore tomes for it.

PLD seems to be always screw on gear. Drops from boss even, why not just drop the sword and shield together.

I guess it's one of those things where they felt like they just wanted it to be standard across the board now. Everyone else has to buy theirs all at once so I assume it was just to make it an even standard for the future.

Seeing as how other classes would need to spend 1,000 tomes to get their weapon, to then upgrade to 240... I'm not seeing the problem here. Are you saying that PLD should be able to get (part) of their i240 weapon for just 300 tomes when everyone else has no choice but to spend 1,000 for theirs? Tbh, the fact that they can buy the shield separately at all seems to be a massive advantage, as you can get it pretty much immediately.

You do realize that sword & shield actually do drop together now, right? >_>

Wat. Paladins don't suddenly need to spend more tomes than other jobs to get upgrade pieces.

Indeed, only time a paladin gets screwed in that situation is if there are two or they came as something else for whatever reason. While I can understand the argument, I have to agree it would be unfair as the shield is the cheaper option and they wouldn't even feel much of a dent in tomes from it.
