Connectivity Issues
Hello,
There have been quite a few posts over in the Technical Support forums about players having issues staying connected or getting constant R0s while in game. The consensus is that this doesn't seem to be affecting anything else we do except for Final Fantasy XIV. A lot of us seem to be on Cox Communications but other ISPs seem to be affected as well.
Community Reps, PLEASE forward this information to the correct people. I'm no longer able to play this game during peak hours in pacific time USA. (7pm - 11pm) We're not getting any kind of response regarding this. It'd be nice to know that it's being looked into. I've been having a blast since 1.19 came out, but ever since 1.19a came out I haven't been able to play long before getting frustrated and just giving up. Please view these three threads below as they're the ones people have posted the most in:

its not just you, Ive never R0ed till 1.19a came out. its a server sided issue whatever it is. could be the influx of players, it could be do to Database compiling, hell it might even be a tech sharping knives on the harddrive platters while no ones looking.

i've been getting my share of server errors and been hard to login

Funny, I seem to be getting way fewer R0s since 1.19. Guess its affecting people differently...

I've been having the same issue with R0 popping up every few minutes. My internet provider is also Cox communication. It mostly happens at around 8 pm through 10 pm (pst) so I assume its because its the peak hours. Its a real pain in the ass when you get R0 in a cave with no one else around.

Not having read the other thread, I was also getting some really odd connectivity issues in 1.19. That is, until I set a static IP on my machine with proper port forwarded specifically for that machine.
-
Every other time this has happened on XI, it was usually the ISP, (Especially Comcast) what ISP you guys running?
-
Same. I hadn't dced in ages until 1.19a, but its happened several times since.

I hear about this stuff, but I never had the problem. I've been playing since first beta and not once. I have verizon ISP, I have no router, just a 2008 server with RRAS & DHCP doing internet routing.
For those having hte issue have you tried going into your router and setting your computer as the DMZ host?

My computer is directly connected to my cable modem with the ports forwarded in Windows Firewall and I still have the same issue. I even tried it on my laptop which has a totally different NIC manufacturer and same thing.
