Hello FF14 community. Today I'd like to suggest a couple of things, but mainly linkable achievements.
With the addition of the new training dummy challenges, its possible to gauge ones own fighting capabilities. But even though you can beat them, no one will know that you can. You can tell them, but how would they know if you're telling the truth? It would be really cool, to have an achievement (all in the category Stone, Sky and Sea) for every class and every dummy. So for example if I am playing a bard and I beat the Midas Savage floor 3 dummy, I would get an achievement saying that I beat this particular dummy on my bard. All other jobs get their own Floor 3 achievement.
This idea leads me to my main idea: linkable achievements. Lets say you are looking to create a training or farming party and youd like people to join that are on a similar level. So for example for the training party youd like everyone to have cleared at least the dummy for that primal/floor (and for dummies they can link their own current job in the party). So before you enter the dungeon, you ask everyone to link the achievements that says so. Id would generate a link similar to linked item which people can click, it has a short description of the achievement and also added the name of that player at the end, similar to how crafted items have a name attached. That would be an easy and fast way to prove that this player meets the requirement. Another scenario would be that you want to PUG Alexander Gordias Savage floor 3, but you require the players to have killed floor 2 savage, so everyone can just link their floor 2 achievement.
Right now, to check if someone has cleared something, you either believe that person or that person has their achievements made public and you check it on the lodestone, which is very tedious. This is all to prevent having an ultra low dps monk with p3 exp of sephiroth in your clear party. Of course, real battles need coordination and skill, not just some dummy achievement, but especially for farm parties linking the kill achivement would make things a whole lot easier. How often did we all have to replace that one player that dragged you down or how often do players without kill exp join your farm parties just to fail misersably.
I know some of you more casual players that ran into requirements, that YOU cannot fullfill, will argument that this is elitist, that im an idiot, or that i should help newbies. I dont mind helping out in a learning party, but having these god aweful players in farm parties really takes a toll on all the 7 other players, so having such a feature would reduce these situations drastically. Just link your kill in the chat and its done.
Proving something isnt the main feature, you can link all sorts of achievements to your friends. It could also be implemented, that when you click on an achievemtn link that you have the option (like a small maginifier in the top right corner, similar to how you would sell stuff on the market) to open your own achievement to see if you have it or not. I think it would be a hufe quality of life improvement to be able to share ingame IF you have cleared a specific achievement as well as be able to instantly share one with friends. More often than not my friends had to guide through all the categories just to show me a specific achievement, having a link would be so much faster.

Sadly all I see are visions of "link achievement or gtfo" coming from the ability to do so. I hear ya, but I just know ppl are not mature enough to handle it.

03-20-2016, 10:36 PMKihraJhinwell afaik on ragnarok there were a lot of groups in the past that required you to show them your achievements. a friend transferred over there and he said for many farming groups he had to make his achievements visible. so having this or not does not hinder ppl to already do this. its just easier and faster to do. besides, if a person really has it on farm or meets the requirement he can easily link the achievement. its still better than wiping 2 times just to find out that that one person sucks at his class and in the end you kick him anyways. of course this can still happen even if he cleared once, but as i said, using linkable achievements to gauge ones skill is of secondary concern. it may help to weed out 30% of the bads in your faming groups beforehand, but it will never be a real indicator of skill. i mainly wanna share my achievements and be able to instantly open them if someone links them to me. the achievements are getting more and more, so having a link would make things a lot easier.Quote:

I would agree that having linkable achievements would be fun in general. However, I know that people would start to use them in that exact "have achievement or go away" purpose and that is not stuff I want to see in xiv.

Well I for one think it would be nice to tell who linked that achievement and if he completed it, but even if the devs fear that this will be counter procudtive, its still possible to make achievements linkable without shwoing if that person completed it or not. that way you can link any achievement even uncompleted ones.

Like, for example, when someone in the FC ask where some title comes from, it would simplify if I could link the achievement. The funny thing is, there already exists achievement links. When someone around you completes an achievement so that you get the system info line about it, there actually is a link to the said ach. We just have no way to produce the links outside of completing an achievement at the moment.Quote:
