Melee LB

so.. ive been a pretty consistent pvp player, played all roles, rank 50, silver tier.

Does anyone think melee lb is abit OP? i mean 94k hp and all they need is a 2 second stun, which both monk and drg have on gap closers, and is uninteruptable. think this is rather unfair when ranged dps have a longer cast for lb, does have the damage and all it takes is a single hit (not stun) HIT! and you lose lb.

its essentaily a free kill.

Well, it is interruptible; I've stunned plenty of melee lb's unless they pop fetterward before hand but even then I've canceled it just by immediately purifying and walking away. Honestly, I find it's easier to break a melee lb than it is to purify tridisaster before you get blasted by fester (timing is pretty close I think, but melee lb just has more telegraph to it for me). I think it is pretty tough to stop personally, but since limit breaks are pretty rare in feast, I'm ok with how it is overall.

And are you sure the caster lb breaks from regular attacks? I feel like the healer lb isn't interrupted by basic attacks. I haven't really tested it myself but it's hard to imagine that all the times I decided to use the healer lb, people would suddenly stop attacking me. I've only ever stopped lb's with cc really ( or moving out of range in the melee lb case).

If you were in the vicinity when the cast bar finished, it's hit you. I have watched people try to flee my LB and every time they get really far away and then drop as soon as the animation ends.


It is very interruptible too, unless you use fetter ward.

Since it doesn't clear 100% of your health, I think it's alright. I mean, it is lame when you are in a match and get targeted by LB 4-5 times in a row(especially when you have no idea who it was aiming at in the cluster of people at Frontlines), but those are the rare exceptions I think. It has only happened to me a few times in my entire PvP career but I don't often see people complaining about in chat either either and it's normally one of those things even the quiet people are quick to comment on.

see no matter how fast i purify (as Carstien said) it still hits you, regardless of distance which is wrong, and ive been one hit plenty of times by it, just stun and lb and thats it,hell they dont even have to be facing the right way. tbh i think its too op, i think 75% is enough but not near 100%.

It's like any AoE, you need to cancel/evade it during the charge phase, not the animation. The exact same applies to Caster and Ranged LB. If I am not mistaken, you can actually cancel it by walking behind the caster. You might need to put a short distance between you and them, but if you do it during the actual charge you should be good to go. Plus if someone has an immunity buff or built up a resistance to stuns then they'll probably out range it without having to do anything other than continue retreating.
If a melee LB hits no-one then you have nothing to show for it, if a ranged or Caster LB hits no-one then at the very least you caused a brief scuffle which, in Frontlines, could honestly be all you were looking for should an ally have been heavily focused with few around to help them.

The idea I believe is that, with a little work, Melee LB is a tactical kill. You're choosing which target's death is most beneficial to your team(at least in the case of non-gloryhounds). Caster and Ranged require more coordination to be as effective, but when the elements are there, the result is pure devastation. At the end of the day, both melee and double caster/ranged LB can be countered and if you're anywhere near a healer, then they can render it's intended effect completely meaningless.

Maybe is because im tank (WAR) but i survived a LB with a half of my life and two dps attacking me (the nerf but VIT buff works for somethings) so im fine with Melee LB, also im right as LB is rare in feast, hard to obtain (in time terms) and stoppable. So if a dps success doing that against a Healer or even another dps if this last hasn't 100% HP or some strong buff die must be inevitable and this is good. In my opinion in pvp less defense and less healing will be the mode better.

Tanks are quite resilient to LB by comparison, yes. Albeit the squishier classes at whom they are usually aimed can also survive them if they maintain full health before the animation concludes. While it's difficult to outright evade a melee LB, you do have plenty of time to counter-heal it assuming you weren't quite weak to begin with. While I don't really play my DRG in Frontlines(he's only rank 20 something), I can't say I dislike it's power. It's only when a coordinated team is up against a weaker/non-coordinated team that LB seems a lot more common and out of control, and frankly I don't think such instances should be what we use to gauge how balanced damage is. I mean, all it takes is at least 2 casters among a party of 72 people to time their LBs together and they can completely obliterate up to two whole parties.
