Humanoid Avian Race?

Would be cool to see an Avian race, harpy like girls and guys. I would love it, and their cultural clothing could be more indian-ish as well as their races lore.

They could have the ability to fly with their own wings.

Of course, there are thousands of ways to do bird people. Just don't see it too often, and it seemed more unique then another animal race. Could even make it more beastly like Garuda.

Why on earth would anyone *want* to be a Harpy?
Harpy, a definition: a rapacious monster described as having a woman's head and body and a bird's wings and claws or depicted as a bird of prey with a woman's face.
a grasping, unpleasant woman.

Of course there are alternatives...for example the Featherfolk from Roak in Star Ocean 4.

I would love that myself, (that is why I didn't put harpy in the topic.) however doesn't that look too humanistic and similar to Hyur?

I'd want feathers on the body.

They're always going to be humanoid though, no matter what new race we get. One of the aspects of any new race is that people must want to play them, it's easier to relate to an humanoid than something more different. So we get what we have with Miqo'te and Au'ra. Males that are more physically imposing than females,females are physically smaller and lean towards aesthetically pleasing. For races with larger, more physical females, SE already has data to go on, and I'm not sure that they will spend development effort on a new race that will be used by relatively few players.

We have them. They just aren't playable, and they summoned Garuda.

All of these "Let me play as X animal-themed race!" threads popping up weird me out. Why not just ask, "Make the beast-man races playable!" Still not going to happen, to a roughly equal extent, but it's a bit easier since the races already exist. Or do all of you just want to play SEXY animal-people?

Uhh... because they are way cooler than little girls with angel wings? We can't say for sure that they wouldn't be played because there are no dangerous looking animal themed females yet. Some people could like that combination of features.

I was hoping you were calling for Aviak.
I 100% would suppose an Aviak like race.

But you wanting them to retain human features...they would just end up being Miq'ote with bird parts instead of Cat parts.
Yoshida won't give players Viera because he feels they'd just be Miq'ote clones but with bunny parts.

Yet we got Aura which are Miq'ote with Lizard parts & leprosy (female), and Elezen with Lizard parts & leprosy (male).
So this shouldn't be a problem imo.
But these servers are also overloaded with limitations.

I want a true beast race, like Bangaa, Seeq, Aviak (from Everquest), Froglok.

If I could be an Ixal I would be an Ixal. If it has to "human-ish" I would settle for a birdfolk like Amon and Balbaroy from Shining Force.

Don't get me wrong, I love your idea (not to mention those two were very useful if you invested the time and effort into leveling them AND gaining the extra ten levels before promoting them) and I would love the Shining Force birdman model in FFXIV...

We can't have truly bestial races because of this. The game is designed with the Japanese player base in mind, and Miqo'te and Au'ra are more on the mark in regards to their tastes of character aesthetics which means we'll essentially see newer races with that design in mind.

True beastman races just aren't a major thing for them.
