Cleric Stance

I think it'd be nice if Cleric Stance had an accuracy boost on it to help fix the problem of healers and their low accuracy when they have free time to dps.

There are a lot of times when I can dps mid-dungeons or other periods but it's slightly in vain because I'll just miss the hit at times, this change would be very nice to have in-game for healers. :)

Agreed. Not sure why this isn't a thing already. Even excluding stance dancing in dungeons/raids, it's annoying when you keep missing mobs when running around solo >.< It's even more annoying when you don't want to replace your level 50 gear until the new gear is i140 or more, due to losing all that accuracy...

They fixed the problem of accuracy by letting us slot materia into gear

I think the reason they don't because is because a healer's role in a raid setting is not defined by being able to contribute damage, but rather keeping the party alive. If there's anything to take from the tank changes, tank dps is overall lowered alongside making vit the to-go stat for tanks. When tanks and healers start being able to catch up to DD jobs in dps, it starts to devalue and alleviate the responsbility of DDs; in short, if your raid wipes to a dps check, you want to be holding the DDs accountable, not look to the tanks or healers to pump out extra numbers). It's already a step up from 3.1 since now you can meld acc (at the cost of other stats

Would be quite a nice change if it does happen, not entirely needed but would be nice.


I also really hope this doesn't turn into another one of those "healers should only heal" threads.

Which was why I said 'aside from stance dancing in duties', because I didn't want to get into that whole deal. And yes, you can meld... theoretically you always could, by getting crafted gear instead of tomestone/dungeon gear. Doesn't really change that it'd be easier to add even a small bonus to Cleric Stance, similar to how they did with tank stances. 5% wouldn't be that much, considering healer Accuracy is lower than tank Accuracy anyway, but it'd help.

That actually doesn't fix the problem, i'd rather take Critical Chance to buff my heals too. I also don't think Ast needs Acc for their damage abilities, could be wrong though.

I agree to a degree, I think this is true but as I've stated in my original post, I tend to find time in some instances where I can dps. This often happens from the tank not taking a lot of dmg or because I am healing him with skills that allow this opening. I'd prefer to use this time to also help dps with the few damage skills I have rather than twiddle my thumbs together waiting for a position that requires my full attention on healing to come along.

Also, I am not trying to say that I would do this in a fight or pull that I didn't know or wasn't experienced in dealing with but... for those that I am completely comfortable with... well why not? :o

While I'd approve of the raiding meta moving more into full-time healing and away from "main heal/off-healer that sometimes helps but mostly DPSes", I think it's pretty ludicrous that I'm missing so many of my spells in faceroll content when I have nothing better to do than help make the run go more efficiently.

Unless there's a level difference (and I'm talking 2+ levels), you wouldn't be missing on open world mobs. You can also meld accuracy on raid gear now.

Then honestly, nothing is stopping you from dpsing anyway if the game allows for it (no healing is needed), just not as effective as an actual dps job if accuracy is the problem. If we're looking at the likes of SCH their effective dps isn't terribly behind (and in some cases, match or even exceed, such as A2 or similarly large aoe pulls). Realistically, you're either lowering their effective damage (where then their solo play suffers) or have a miss rate in party play (which can be mitigated to an extent with BRD and melds), and I'd think the later is the issue at hand here. Trying to get extra accuracy attached to cleric stance is essentially asking to be put on an even field with DDs in the dps aspect, which shouldn't be the reason.
