The Starshower
So now we know that Zodiark is in the Moon orbiting Hydaelyn (apparently). This leads me to think the Starshower premonition from the Echo is depicting one of the effects of the final Rejoining. If Zodiark were to emerge from the moon like a hatching egg, then a significant bulk of lunar matter is going to fall onto Hydaelyn's surface. A starshower more intense than what was seen in End of an Era.
This makes Dalamud's installation in orbit by ancient Allag quite interesting....given what it was used for and how it was remembered.

We still don't really know what Zodiark is so I'm not sure the idea of the moon hatching like an egg is necessarily a sound theory. Hydaelyn, for example, is a crystal in the aetherial world that manifests as our planet in the physical world. If Zodiark is the same then the moon itself is Zodiark; he's not trapped inside it. That being said, we still have no idea what happens when the final rejoining is complete.
Your point about Dalamud is curious though. It may indeed be possible that the Ascians manipulated Allag into putting Bahamut up there so as to benefit Zodiark in some way besides the calamities/rejoinings themselves.

Reminds me of Legend of Dragoon, where the Moon was an egg for the God of Destruction.

While I appreciate the LoD reference, I believe it's intentionally drawing reference to IV instead.
(my own initial thought was how the moon is imperative for the natural balance of the planet and how it regulates tides. It's not just sitting up there to look nice. But, I digress. . .)

In FF12; Zodiark's Final Eclipse attack you can see him fall from the moon and into the Sea. From that sea emerges an egg where a full grown zodiark hatches from.
Not sure if they'll do something similar, but Zodiark is in the moon
