So this thread, and the ideas in it, bounce around occasionally, but I want to point out a new development.
The Thorne Dynasty Mantelshelf from the current event is "untradable, marketboard prohibited" meaning we can't sell them on markets for mad profit like the eastern cherry trees. (Of course, you can still trade removable furniture by allowing an fc member to pick up the item in the house, so selling the item over party finder is still possible.)
Now stopping people from price gouging is fine and all (I already made my millions on cherry trees, so whatever :P) but this represents a new barrier to new and returning players from acquiring general housing items of high demand.
This isn't a "commemorative 2016" decoration. It isn't something that should be restricted to players of a certain moment or era, like a reward for witnessing Dalamud fall. It is a shelf for displaying dolls, of which they just added another half dozen to the game.
So... is this new restricted status on holiday furniture a sign of the items eventually being placed on mogstation? Or is it just a further indication that devs don't care if housing furniture becomes rare despite taking up precious inventory space.
Honestly, I just want holiday furniture added to the calamity salvager, assuming you have the achievement, because I've already got a guild bank tab full of holiday furniture. The new shelf doesn't even FIT into the guild bank due to the "untradable" modifier. I want to be able to delete items when the holiday ends, and still be able to acquire them for future years. I'd also like to put up christmas wallpaper each year, and then take it down in January, like a sane person. I finally deleted that wallpaper last summer when I couldn't take the winter theme in my house any longer.
