Why so salty?
People post about their concern, and upsetness, that a job, in this case War, Drk, or Pld, is doing less damage due to the patch and most people fire back with comments akin to, "Boo hoo. Grow up. You were never meant to do damage. Shut up and tank. Suck it up and put your big boy pants on. Etc. Etc."
What if SE took the job that you enjoy most and nerfed the shit out of it? Hmmm? What if they decided oh you like pushing out big numbers with your Mnk? Well, we decided that, yes you are supposed to be doing damage, but tests have shown that your numbers are a bit too high, so in response to that we'll be reducing your damage by 35%. Please look forward to it!....Just as an example.
Now would you suck it up and put on your big boy pants and quietly keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself? Or would you go on the forums and vent your frustration?
Would you appreciate it if you did post about your concern and were told to grow up, you were obviously not intended to do that much damage for the past 2+ years as a Mnk because SE has been vocal regarding the issue and they have decided that you were OP and needed to be nerfed, and you just need to suck it up and deal with it?
Would you appreciate all the salty comments with people firing back at you the way that people who enjoyed tanking pre-3.2 are getting fired back at by people in this community?
I think we all need to be a little more understanding and a little more sympathetic. This isn't a place where people go because they are looking to get put down, put in their place, or have anyone be rude to them. The twelve help us if we voice our opinions for the pitchforks and torches are going to come out and we're going to get flamed for having an opinion.
Sometimes it's better to reply in a nice manner and just explain that you agree to disagree, or maybe find a better way to reply back that doesn't sound blatantly rude.
The inspiration for this post came from reading the locked "yeah no ty" thread where the level of salt is real.
We all want this game to be successful. New players to the game would have more fun putting out decent to nice DPS as a War, Drk, or Pld, but if they are going to feel like their attacking things with a limp wet noodle, I don't think they will be very inspired to continue down the path of a tank. It may put them off in their opinion of the game, but I understand that prediction is a bit drastic.
I have yet to get a chance to run content on my Drk since the patch dropped, but from what I've been reading on the forums today, I don't think I'm going to be pleased with my DPS.
Why it's so taboo for a tank who wields a great axe, great sword, or a sword to put out good dps numbers is beyond me. I fail to understand why everyone, well not everyone, but I fail to understand why so many of you are against tanks doing good DPS. Especially because this is just a game, and we're all here to have fun.
If it wasn't a problem for tanks to put out the DPS numbers that they have been putting out for the past 2 years-ish, I fail to see why it's a problem all of a sudden. That argument is invalid though because it's too late the change has been made and we're left to deal with it as we will, but in all honesty it makes little sense.
Anyway, the point of my post is to kindly ask all of you to not be so rude, negative, and/or hateful to one another regardless of what a thread is about and to, "Be excellent to each other."

I played a VIT PLD from the get go, and I still don't see why all these tanks fail to understand Tank = high armor, High HP not squishy, lowest dmg output. And they didn't get nerfed that go reworked. YOUR Str build got nerfed. Not your job. Cause my tanks got buffed.

A better comparison would be if MNKs were able to generate enough threat and mitigate enough damage that they could tank almost as well as a tank class and then they nerfed that aspect. My reply to that would be the same.
I understand that people don't like getting nerfed and they like those big numbers. What I don't understand is: if those big numbers are important to you, why would you pick a tank class?

What these other guys posted. Tanks aren't a high-damage class in the first place. Their job is to absorb damage first; the rest is secondary utility. Maybe their utility got balanced a bit to match each other or something, but it's not THAT huge of a deal.

Except they didn't "nerf the shit out of it." Tanks were never meant to push DPS numbers at a comparable rate to actually DPS jobs. When accessories specifically designed for tanks are rendered completely obsolete that becomes an issue. Regardless, you also have to account for the jobs. Bad STR tanks made it difficult for inexperienced healers to handle their blind focus on damage when they should be trying to maintain enmity. Likewise, this puts increased emphasis on the DPS to, well, DPS. And given they have the least responsibility relatively speaking. I'd say it's a good change.

I thought the proper strength tanks would get enough HP to survive and then put other stats into their offense? I guess it'd be like a healer with more than enough piety for an encounter and so they put stats into crit/mind/accuracy. (not sure if they can actually do that, just making an example.)

I'm just gonna say to all the bad DPS "Sorry guys, my DPS got nerfed, ya gotta git gud, no more piggybacks".

You're at most 10 years old aren't you MugenMugetsu?
-
Is the thread title supposed to be ironic?

I was a strength tank.
I'm very indifferent about the situation. Tanking is what I enjoy, not big numbers. If anything, my HP bar is now bigger and it makes me pleased.
