New to Leatherworking

Hello, I'm a newer player to the game. My LTW is sitting at 28, currently. My highest class is Bard at 34.

I am practically broke now, however, with buying mats and all. I am stuck in leveling LTW and don't know what to do. Any help/tips? Thanks ;)

first thing you should always do is just finish the mainstory ^^ the game just start after that, than you can kill all the mobs to get this items =)

Have you unlocked the weekly Challenge Log? It has gil rewards that you can earn by completing certain tasks weekly.
Aside from that, you can also try Gathering. Some of the low-mid tiered items / materials are still selling well on market so you could gather them to make money.

yea gather your own shards brah, aim for 500 shards a day, any excess sell them to the {Market Board}.

You can also fight for monster drops, for example Aldgoat Skin, you can farm this easily in {Eastern Thanalan} with your battle class.

Then turn that into leather while leveling up / selling finished product.

Become self-sufficient.

And remember that you can be a compétent Crafter having all the cross skill
So try level up EVERY Crafter to 15 first

Another thing that will help on getting materials (especially for LTW) is to use retainer ventures. If you make a retainer into a DOW/DOM class (recommend that you use your primary class since the retainer is level capped based on your level in the class) you can send it out to get most of the items that are dropped by monsters once you've leveled it up a bit. Being able to send out a retainer and get 10 aldgoat skins, or 10 boar hides (you'll need a ton of these later) an hour later is very handy. This will take a bit of a time investment though.

You'll need a steady supply of ventures for this though, and your options at lower levels are a bit limited. You can buy them with seals from your grand company - which remains a viable way to get these through endgame - or get them as rewards from battlecraft leves sometimes. When you get your level into the 40s, you'll eventually unlock daily beast tribe quests, which are also a good source of ventures.

My biggest advice would be to save money where you can by getting your own mats. Your LTW is level 28? If i remember right, thats the aldgoat/toad range. Aldgoats should be easy kills for a level 34 bard, and there are plenty of places you can find toads to kill. Alumen can be gotten by miners in their mid teens, so it wouldnt take a lot of work to get into that range. If you have friends/fc members leveling other crafts, you might be able to work out some leather for metal/cloth trades that benefit you both. Its an idea.

As for what the others have said here, Nekotee isnt wrong that leveling up the other crafting classes would benefit you. You can pick up cross class skills to make your crafting easier. Plus if you have multiple classes near the same level, you can make even more of your own ingredients and not have to buy them. If the thought of leveling all 8 at once is too much, you could just focus on doing a couple at a time until theyre all level 15(first cross class level). If you do this, strongly consider adding miner and botanist to the list too, because the more classes you have the more raw materials you use.

Don't buy mats (except NPC mats) unless you have a GOOD source of income. Work on your crafts/gathers simultaneously so they can all support each-other with level-appropriate mats. Plus, running a bunch of leves and class quests between them all should have you never wanting for shards.
