better integration of steam and non steam version please

why is it that they are not compatible?

recently created a trial account on steam.. but found out that if i ever want to actually continue with my character that i would have to get it from the steam store only..

so i bought the non steam version directly from SE website , discounted (thanks), and created a new account and new character on a different server trying to make her look as close to my original character. just a hassle.

steam unfortunately or fortunately depending on your outlook is too big and important to not be compatible with.

ppl like doing the steam achievements, but me personally, i like having the amount of hours spent tallied on my steam account.. and also keeping the vast majority of my games on steam just kinda makes it more easier and streamlined.

at least have some sort of warning that the steam version and non-steam version are incompatible with each others will save a lot of grief. thanks.
