Animation Freeze

Hey all, I have a weird issue exclusive to FFXIV that I find a bit hard to describe, but here goes..

Periodically, the game actions will freeze. I won't see any animations, whether it's people's limbs moving, weapons moving, explosions etc. AoE effects will not show. The only things I can see/do include: buffs on the boss, I can glide around (like walking without limbs moving), I get cast bars and cooldown times on my skills. I can see the parties HP fluctuate (important as I am a healer).

This doesn't happen much, but it did happen twice on Tuesday (once during raid). I killed us during that raid by running straight into a resin puddle.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or have any idea what the cause may be?

PC Info:
Windows Client
Windows 10
i7 3770k
12 GB RAM
2x GTX 970 SLI
Game installed on SSD separate from Windows

Are you running on Direct X 11? Or 10?

As far as I know that's a latency issue, but not lag, so it shouldn't cause you to die though. Separate problems

was frozen while i was playing too, and now got kicked out of the game, going under emergency maintenance!! sigh:\

DX11, my PC is more than powerful enough for it though :\

It could be a latency issue. It only caused me to die because I walked into a resin puddle that I had no idea was there. Once I was dead, all the animations continued. The few other times this has happened, the animations will continue mid-fight or when the fight ends. It doesn't seem very consistent.

I have a pretty strong internet connect, and don't want to use something like WTFast. Any other ways to reduce latency?

Well, I only ask because direct x 11 is buggy with final fantasy 14. So I switched back

I honestly wouldn't know how to fix it since I'm a console player, but what I did and it helped a lot was remove other players effects. I know its a sucky solution since its cool to see, but I'd rather have a smoother gameplay :)

Heh thanks for your tips :) I won't be doing that, as this happens rare enough to not hinder the game so greatly. I have 2x GTX 970 in SLI for a reason.

I just clicked it and it takes you to a post of people having issues with Direct X 11. It's something they are working on, so maybe you want to read up see if anyone is having your issue. If it's not taking you to the post its third down in the section for issues being worked on.
