Proposal to scrap the +1 +2 +3 feature from gear

Hello, everyone. Since I have your attention, I just wanted to have a poll as to scrap this current HQ system of synthing and go back to the old version, or keep this version?

Now for me, the HQ system seems out of place. I never did fully understand why the team making XIV thought NQ & HQ was just too simple and needed another step. Another point of fact is that the HQ rate is random as hell. I don't see any resemblence to the HQ rate and Quality. (Do you know?)

I really can appreciate the....I think it's 6% stat increase per +1? I just don't see why they made a +3......Rarely would you ever see anything with a +2 on XI.....

Your thoughts?

I would guess, and it is only a guess, that a large part of the choice comes from the fact that crafting jobs are actual jobs. Adding a multi-tier system to the HQ is one method of adding "content" for crafters, a way to give what we do a little more depth.

Personally, I think the idea of the system is fine. It doesn't matter if you use a +0/+1 system or a +0/+1/+2/+3 beyond the fact that it is a nice nod to crafters. Either way, the highest +HQ stats will be the most coveted by people who care about such things.

The problem isn't so much that the system is there, as it is that it seems broken. That is, we have no idea what the math behind the process is, or what affects HQ output - at this point it is mostly guess work.

Some revelation behind the mechanics would help with the situation. As will time. As someone else pointed out, as the market becomes flooded with +1, the master crafters will focus on +2. Then on +3. It is very hard to see what the game is actually like because the economy we have is still 1.) very new, 2.) not representative of what we will have after PS3's eventual release when we have an influx of players.

Honestly, the HQ system might be working properly, and we just can't see it yet because we don't know enough yet (though I tend to be in the camp that thinks it needs slight tweaks.)

Yeah. I can give an example as to how broken the HQ system is right now. I wanted to make me a Chocobotail Saw. So when I finally reached the rank to craft one, I made an HQ+2 one with a quality of 20-29.....I can't remember exactly, but wow it's so messed up that I did....

It's impossible to make a +2 with less than 100 quality. I've done many thousands of synths skilling up with qualities under 100 and not one has ever HQed more than +1.

I beg to differ. I HQ2 and HQ3's with hasty hands once or twice when I am processing fish for shards.

The current system could use adjustments on HQ rates. As for as +1, +2, and +3, it's an interesting idea that has great potential when SE starts adding more armor and weapons. On a side not, they should increase the size of our inventory to compliment the current system.

Sorry but unless you post proof, I would call bull on this. Also, fishes do come in +1/+2/+3 and with HQ mat you get instant +100/+200/+300 quality. I've had +2 Nugget using Hasty Hand, but of course with all +2/+3 ores which gave me instant 200+ quality without doing anything.

Do me a favor. Stay out of my thread. I posted this to pick up a main concern with synthesis and HQ rates. If you're just going to interject random stupidity, then go do it somewhere else and let us voice our concerns to the development team. Thank you.

HQ does not need to go, but it needs to be adjusted for sure. Being able to get HQ more often on low quality work (20-40) and never get it when you push to HQ (400+) is really lame.

You can not get HQ 2 if your quality is under 100.

You can not get HQ 3 if your quality is under 200.

If you're going to post some random stupidity to act as a dictator in order to feel good, the Internet isn't for you. Do me a favour, understand what you post beforehand.
