Framing Screenshots

I know it may seem a bit farcry but I think the idea of being able to frame your in game screenshots and hang them up on the walls of your FC or your house would be pretty nice. I think main reason this wouldn't be added is because people most likely bring in files from outside the game and most likely post up unsavory pictures on their wall. I understand SE wanting to try and keep it somewhat clean but was thinking about this the other day while redecorating our FC house. Was looking at our walls and was thinking, it would be pretty sweet if we could do like a member of the month sort of thing or even just have past memories up on the walls so our new players can see some of the stuff we do.

Like I said I know it might be much but still figure it would be a cool idea.>.>

Maybe a contest of the best scenery and winner gets the painting in game. I would love to see larger size pictures up on the walls. I dislike a lot of wall decorations :(

I would love this, but there are some significant hurdles. As you noted, there's no way SE would ever allow pictures to be uploaded from players as they understandably need to control the content displayed in their game. The best we could hope for is having in-game "pictures" generated for wall furnishings as part of the screenshot process, and it would have to be handled completely on SE's end and not rely on any uploads from players.

Even then, the problem is getting that content out to *all* players. All the screenshotted paintings placed in your room/house have to be uploaded to every player on the server, as they need to be able to see that content when they enter your room. The game would be constantly streaming data updates to players even while they're logged in and actively playing (because people can generate new paintings at any time), and that's a setup SE just isn't using right now.

Yeah, it's just not gonna happen.
We need more paintings overall, more landscapes in my opinion, but this is just not they way to do it. :/ It might work for a single player game maybe (maybe) but sure not on an MMO.

Actually, if the paintings can be only placed in house/room they don't necessarily need to be loaded to players until they enter said spaces. However it would still be enormous server strain as any individual painting would have to be stored there.

As an idea though, would be awesome to be able to place a character portrett that is sort of generated on the fly so the server needs to only save a limited amount of options. How I envision this they draw the character look from the current look (so changes made with fantasia or hairdresser would change the painting) and option for frames, background, position (sitting or standing, possibly couple more) and outfit from limited selection, like race starting outfit, any unlocked job relic outfit, and possibly couple other static choises, like a noble set. This way, if it's only one portrett per house, the saved amount of data would be rather limited, a few bits/option instead a whole(compressed) bitmap. The picture would be generated when people enter the space that has it.

I think they discussed this a long time ago and said they weren't going to implement this unfortunately. I think it was something about inappropriate content being displayed permanently as well as heavily increased server resources.

I do like the idea though.
