3.2 melding question

So In live letter they said, Materia Melding

It will not be possible to use advanced materia melding for STR, DEX, VIT, INT, MND, and PIE. You will be able to meld these stats into available materia slots.". So do u assume as I do, that each piece of gear will have 1 available materia slot. And that you could overmeld say spell speed, or det....etc? Just wanna know what u guys think.

I expect that most people will not bother to do much melding, to be honest. Few bother to meld their crafted gear from 50 to 60, if they even get any at all! Oh, at first, yes, there will be a mad dash to the Marketboard for Materia. Afterwards? I doubt it.

The big question in my mind is whether those primary stats will be at their cap already. Will the Monk Boots, for example, even take a STR Materia? Or a VIT Materia? The very idea of being able to meld primary stats to the open slot, but not to any hidden slots, implies yes; but very few crafted HQ pieces (although not crafted, the dungeon/tome gear currently counts as HQ) take any more of their primary stats. I don't want to be forced to put DEX Materia into my monk boots, or STR Materia into my bard's gloves, because the relevant primary stats are already capped ...

My guess is that the first slot will always require a main stat tier 5 materia, then the rest (I hope) will fit at least 2 tier4s of each stat.

Materia prices on Sarganatas have already doubled or flat skyrocketed.

Primary stats are always capped on non-crafted gear. Though they could easily change that in 3.2 but that wouldn't be a really smart choice. The primary stat melds refer to accessories (possibility to meld VIT on every dps accessory for example) + the possibility to meld PIE in every mage equipment if you want so. The rest will be secondaries, giving more specialization options (though everyone will roll deter/crit as always, except BLMs)
