Monk's Meditation
Damn, wanted to post my thoughts on how Meditation could have been made useful, but they are too long =( Hop you won't mind, if I post a link to them on my FB page, though. Here.

Meditation is fine to be fair, as its on the GCD, it is effected by Greased Lightning so it's already mega fast compared to what it would be on other Jobs. You can use it before the fight yes, while running around in between pulls, dodging, while the enemy jumps, in between mechanics and so on.
I wouldn't mind that in the future; expansions. We get other methods to obtain Chakra/Use Chakra but at the moment I think it's fine. A Monk should always be pressing a button if some sort, if its not Meditation or an Attack, it will be Form Shift.

I don't understand how anyone can deem FC as useless. It's great in the opener and there are plenty of fights with downtime that let you charge back to full so you can use it multiple times a fight. Just because it's not an ogcd that we can use off cool down doesn't make it useless. And if it was an ogcd it'd probably have a 3 min timer on the FC use which would make it far less effective in most boss fights and all dungeons

Any MNK who says Meditation is useless obviously don't do anything except old content where they use it once and that's on opener. There are plenty of fights where there is downtime in which you can charge your stacks back up and form shift to get yourself prepared for yourself for another opener. Times where you should be using Meditation and get stacks -> A1S jump phases, A2S won't really have downtime save stacks for Purification for RBs, A3S charge during each transition, A4S charge after Manipulator goes invuln. There are several time in new primal EX fights where you get time to charge. If you're sitting around with your thumb up your butt and not charging/form shifting to prep then you're not making use of all the tools you have available to increase damage output.

Meditation is meant to be used during downtime (i.e. during phase changes or when you're away from the boss). So I'd say that it's perfectly fine. GL3 is way more important to maintain compared to getting 5 Chakra stacks so get to Couerl Form with Form Shift first before charging up.
Granted it was pretty bad when it was first implemented but now with the 1.2s recast time it's pretty smooth. After you have 5 stacks, the rules are simple really. FC on one target or Purification for AoE scenarios (like A2 or Dungeons in general).
If Chakra stacks could be weaved in or it worked like Warrior stacks, then they'll have to nerf FC and Purification. Monks are already the top single target DPS and have great TP sustain so they don't need more buffs on that end. What we need is a hammer job to take advantage of Dragon Kick :P

So after reading your post it seems you have little to no knowledge of end-game raiding/MNK at all. Meditation, as it is now, is a great skill. If you know when to use it you can use it 3-5 times in a fight, without losing any DPS at all.
You mentioned other classes have hard-hitting abilities...yet MNK is still top 1-2 DPS in the game currently. If you go look at all the fflogs a good MNK will be top 1/2 DPS easily with 3-5 FC/Purifications used in a fight with no dps loss. I suggest you hit 60, raid a bit and then repost your thoughts about Meditation.
As far as changing chakra in sort of another str+% is absolutely ridiculous...MNK does NOT need more dps. If anything at all maybe an adjustment to utility to enhance the raid dps but even that is asking for too much. MNK is in a great spot right now even if they only bring Mantra to a raid environment.
