Avatar issue?

Why is my avatar shaded? This is my 2nd character and I've had no issues with the 1st.

The forums update the avatars at random intervals...at least it feels like random.
For instance you appear for me. Sometimes my avatar appears in, for example, my PLD gear when I maybe was PLD for five minutes ingame and logged off as BRD.
If you deleted your character before, that's why it's shaded. It's just going through your new character and your old deleted character. It should stop eventually.

I don't know what you mean by shaded, but I see green hair.

The only thing I can think of is you made some change to your character (Fantasia?) and it's resulted in the avatar defaulting to a generic icon in the meantime. Otherwise it also does that when you've deleted that character which your forum profile is attached to. You might have to reselect it in your profile control panel and see if that corrects it. VBulletin is notoriously buggy like that.

Yeah. It appears by the replys that my avatar doesn't appear to me (my machine) as it does to others and you're right, I did change characters recently. Thanks for your heads-up, and I'll see if reselecting it resolves it. :)

To echo what the others have said, I think there is a regular 'refresh' cycle that the Lodestone uses to refresh character appearance for the avatars. It always seems that Kosmos' appearance matches her appearance in-game 12-24 hours prior.

There's two things involved. First is a delay before the Lodestone (and therefore the forums) updates your character's data. There isn't much you can do about that part.

But then, even if the Lodestone has an updated picture, your browser might have an older one in its cache, in which case you might still be seeing the old image even when other people who didn't have it cached see a newer one. If you think it's the later (like if the forum shows a different image than the Lodestone's full page for your character), then try clearing cached images from your browser and refreshing the page. (Or just wait. Eventually, your browser will decide that cached image is too old and will pick up a new one.)
