The ability itself works, but the animations and associated system message is broken.
The animation is broken because sometimes it doesn't go off.
The system message is broken because it says the wrong thing sometimes.
How the ability works:
When you use clean slate, it is supposed to reset your progress bar while keeping your durability and quality. This allows you greater chance to make HQ materials.
When it succeeds, the above occurs. Your progress reduces to 0% accompanied by a message that says "progress increases by -80%" or something.
When it fails, nothing should happen. -

When using this ability it says it succeeds and then nothing happens. a couple of times it's reset the progress bar like it's suppose to, but it did not give back the durability, so that would be why I assume it's broken.

There are many items which you can craft which give you in excess of 80 or so durability even after spamming bold the whole way through the synth, using clean slate gives you a chance to further increase your quality and use the extra 80 durability you have left over.
It gives you the ability to make the most of your durability when synthing materials.
It is absolutely pointless for crafting gear though.
So I don't think it's broken because there is still a use for it. But as i said, the accompanied system messages and animations are broken. -

Ok so it's not broken in the way I thought it was. Bummer though that it doesnt give back the durability.
