Free company housing discussion

From reading the recent Yoshi interviews,
it seems we will be able to form our own Free Companies as previously speculated on.
Not only that, but we'll be able to pool our resources together and build our own company base!

The possibilities of this whole concept and of course the rivalries created, or partnerships are boundless!

I wonder if company housing will be furnished by the members. If so, my lolcarpentry will get some use.

I started this thread earlier tonight Player Housing with Free Companies

I'd rather my housing not be connected to other people/groups/linkshells due to how people and linkshells tend to disappear.

But what if there was both?

I personally like the idea of sharing an HQ with LS members. With personal rooms, and then a main area where you can help each other with random events. Also, a Linkshell bank. Please.

The possibilities are endless, but considering the nature of the inter-server structure and the limited zone size, I doubt we will see anything much in the way of persistent company-built towns/bases and meaningful server politics.

I would strongly prefer Free Companies to be Linkshell-based. I think I read somewhere that the initial idea (granted, this could be totally different now) was for Linkshells to be something a player to have several of; while companies were going to be powerful linkshells you could only be in one of. I really like this idea and I hope they build upon the idea of pooled resources under one HQ that can be spent on improved functionality of the headquarters, ships, airships, and unique Company-only gear.

It would be really awesome to be able to have Overcoat-sets and shields like the Grand Companies have that can be customized to have the Linkshell's colors and emblem put on them. (And then we can put our LS flag on our chocobos!)

Jack, if I can get a house like in FFXI without it being connected to anyone but me and not have to worry about losing my home, hard work and gil put into it I will be fine with it. My concern is that we will be forced to make a group even a small one (4 people) to get a home and for me that is not what I wish for.

I see lots of people like group/shell housing but one thing they never discuss is what happens if that shell breaks up? What happens if the group decides they no longer want to be together? What happens to their houses then? Their rewards?

I hope we have the option of single housing and group housing when the time comes and people can decide for themselves what they want to do.
