Emperor's new shield

Couldn't find a post on this so sorry if there is one but

Please add this. I know we have dark knight with no shield, but I think it would be a nice touch for Paladins as well. Just a thought! I would be really happy if it happened though! :)

This would be quite hard to implement, as all of the animations take into account a shield being there, the blocking animation in particular would look really weird. Not saying its 100% a bad idea, as DoL/H use the PLD animations, but its not as natural as the emperor's new fists.

Would be cool I could probably make a character based off this guy

While I would agree, they could make it a tweak to make the shield throw look like a Chakram and solves that bit. As for the guarding, well then I can see the issue being blocking a sword and such with your wrist would seem odd, perhaps just an arm guard (thats dyeable) if we have to have something there.

Well they could make a hide off hand only option for when you're out of combat.

Red Mage will more likely then not be one-handed swords or Rapiers, and by SE's track record with DRK (all the early swords were larger versions of PLD swords) more then likely you will be single-wielding a blade that way with PLD-like swords. Or they will make it Duel-Wield for the lols, or staff wielding.

Shield lob would look weird alright. Here i was thinking some of the shields, cough Ancile, could use a boost in size.

The shield is one of the weapons the Paladin, and some weapon skills of PLD are actually for the shield. It seems natural for PGL/MNK since their abilities depend on the fist rather than a weapon/blade (but at the same time it didn't really look good with how the hands look like they're holding an invisible knuckle) but still it's kinda weird if PLD got one for their shield.
