tank specialty

Good afternoon everyone, forgive me if this has been covered recently as I may have missed it.

I am currently leveling my first character WAR and enjoying it. I got to thinking about PLD as I have always liked the sword and board style. Now every time I bring up about the playstyles and differences between the two in chat it always ends up sounding like that some from Annie, "anything you can do I can do better!". Hopefully we can avoid that here lol.

I ramble I know, my question is this. Is one tank class inherently better/more favored than the other? Or are they all pretty balanced?

You want to avoid 'anything you can do I can do better' while asking what job can do what better?.....okay dokey.

ATM? Don't roll PLD. It can get the job done well enough, can clear all the contents, but WAR and DRK can do it better. They can survive while doing more damage. More damage the better.

actually paladin is viable to all content and he can do everything, but the actual meta and war's designed makes DRK-WAR the best option, DRK have advantage over magic mitigation and the actual high end was designed for DRKs shine, WAR in other hand can do all the paladin can and do extremely high burst dps so this is the panorama, but if you like to play the PLD do it after all is a game and apart to this any class can do all, have fun with the class you want.

edit: you need get provoke from gladiator lvl22 after all so play both clases i think in 3.2 they share gear like the 2.x anyway

maybe 3.2 will change something about the balance of the 3 tanks.
actualy the advantage of the pld is the invincibility for 10 secs (no damage, no stacks taked for 10 seconds)
in A2s it's easier to have a pld because of this skill.
i think the advantage is good but not enough for the pld to not be at shadow atm with current tank meta :/ where dps output is the best advantage.
let's hope 3.2 will get the 3 tanks more balanced.

All three tanks can do all content viably. PLD can clear everything fine although you might have a slightly harder time in say A3S, thats probably where you will see the biggest difference between DRK and PLD MT. Currently WAR is the best OT hands down just because of the damage they bring. That being said play what you have fun with because all current content has been cleared by all tanks at this point.

Everybody is right, mostly. Avoid pld if you want the better tanks for the jobs. Somebody said pld is preferable in AS2, it isn't. It has better cooldowns for it, and hallowed ground is amazing for wave 9, but the lack of aoe damage makes the other two better. You'll kill things faster and that will mitigate the most damage on those packs. Also, killing in one stun means more gobwalker stacks to spread.

Play the class you want. Just read about what the class do and make your decision from there. If you want safe sturdy PLD, if you want high burst damage with great health but skilled cd WAR, if you want great sustain dps a more risky but rewarding play DRK. Understand the choice of tanks will change due to content. It's best to lvl all three tanks. That way you won't get left behind on content. So far my DRK and WAR is maxed working PLD and the more I level it the more fun it become. So do research and make the decision off your game play and not only advice and opinions .

Alot of this is likely to change in 3.2 which is only a matter of weeks away.

I'd say roll what you like most, you'll probably play better as a result.
