Advice needed...
I'm going to do a fresh OS install on a new SSD. My question is what would be the fastest way to install the game and how can I transfer my hotbar layouts, and gearsets to the newly installed game?
Can I copy the C:\Program Files(x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn folder and place it in the newly installed OS in the same directory and then take from the Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn the folders there and place them in the same directory in the newly installed OS to keep my hotbar layouts, gearsets, etc.?
Maybe I answered my own question, I don't know, but any advice is appreciated as I really don't want the fresh install to be a long drawn out process and I would hate to have to set all my hotbar layouts again being that I have all DoW/DoM at 50 with the exception of Drk 60, Brd 60, and Nin 52 all of which have complete hotbar layouts already set.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Edit: I understand I will still have to do another install due to registry entries needing to be created (if I'm not mistaken) but I am hoping that because the files would already be where they need to be that it would save a lot of time.

on copying the actual game install, I'm not sure if that will work
on the HUD and classes gear sets thing, yes that definitely works :)

You can copy the game and My Documents folders yes. I doubt you would need to worry about re-installing the game it should work without registry entries alot of games are fine without them.
Edit: I just rememberd I copied the game from a hdd to a ssd, I dont recall having any issues.

To save hotbars, macro's, gearsets, and UI you open up the FFXIV Launcher, click the Config button, and use the Back Up utility. It's a good idea to use this utility every month or so to prevent you from having to redo all of your macro bars, gearsets, UI, etc if something happens.
Simply copy the file it creates to your new SSD; then use the Back Up to restore your settings after your fresh install of the game.

Quickest way.
Export Reg keys.
Backup My documents data
Backup program files data
Copy back
Import Reg files
if any dlls give you errors, find them... and in cmd window type regsvr32 name of dll while in folder they are in.
Safest way just run the install and come back tomorrow. Done and working correctly.. If old HD still working run backup from the launcher and restore form launcher.

I honestly had my install on an external, then some stuff happened and I had to put it on my actual HDD.
I just copied the files over and boom, still ran.
Since you need a fresh OS install I'd rec what CrystalRainbow said and don't forget your registry.

The fastest way I found to get FFXIV running in a new OS install is back up the game folder at C:\Program Files(x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV as well as the game settings folder found in documents/my games. Then install the FFXIV installer but don't download the game. Basically want to get it set up to the point where the game will start to download, this takes care of any system registry stuff. Then you can just copy over your updated version with overwriting any files then it will work fine without having to re download everything. Also put your settings back in the my documents/my games folder
