If we could see all the available gear our character could wear in our inventories.

Life would be grand. I have been playing the game since it came out and I have crap all through my retainers. Now leveling my black mage it would be nice to know I saved some battle mage pieces without scouring my retainers. I know people hate wow but that option where you shift right click on the slot and all the gear you can wear in your inventory was awesome.

You could always auto-sort your retainer's inventory, which would clump all of the gear and sort them by slot. Also, if you're talking about avoiding picking up duplicates, you can always use the "Search for item" feature when you click on an item in order to see if you have a duplicate in your retainer's inventories.

I do sort them, but I still have to go through every single one to see if I can use it. Who can remember what the gear icon for all the gear is.

Items in your armory chest are grayed out or highlighted to indicate whether you can wear it or not. It would be really helpful if this feature could be extended to regular inventory and retainer inventory.
