Hey does anyone know how to start or obtain the small merchant wall schematic prototype? In our workshop I only see 4 choices such at the schematic board armor shop prototype, restaurant prototype, weapon shop prototype and moghouse prototype.

Have you checked the list under "Housing" tab at the Fabrication Station? (aka the Company Crafting Log)
I think that one is accessible by default.
