tried to name my character shinobu oshino but was denied

that name does not exists on my world but square still wont let me change weird

I have had a character on another server from my main's and tried to make a new character on Balmung with the same name. The name was not in use on Balmung, but it still would not let me use it.

I know the feels.

They're pretty lax about if you created a character before they blocked the name, but they seem to be slowly adding filters to block copyright character names.

My character is named after my favorite singer. I guess I got lucky.

Good, because I'm tired of people being uncreative.

Sometimes names don't show up if you search lodestone, but they'll still be taken. One of my alts has a name that said it was taken on Hyperion but no lodestone character could be found here, yet I was still able to use that name on Excalibur. Maybe if the character is created but they just exited the client because they didn't want to wait for the previously unskippable opening cutscene? Or maybe the name was used in 1.x and never logged in since the new lodestone was created. I have no idea.

I don't regret using an "uncreative" name because I've made friends with similar interests in the Tales series that I may have never talked to otherwise.

I don't know, still think it's weird for an RPG where the point is to create your own character.

Could be worse. Could have been named Cloud, Sephiroth or IstabUlolQT. Names like always kill a part of my soul every single time.

Ugh true... at least with this system you have to have a first and last name....

Has anyone gone for Strife Cloud?
