Seems the timer is only reset on the owner entering the house with private houses, tenants don't reset the timer apparently according to this thread anyway

Aww...Too bad, thanks for awnsering so fast, I was hoping to prevent it, I'm new to the forums and I didn't find that thread, thanks for the info!
He'll get 80 percent of the gil and most of the housing items back. Perhaps he can visit during a free period and give it to you.
ok the 80%.... is like 40% of what the house will resell for so its actually bad.... and yes I speak from experience here
bought my private goblet large at 40 mill then let it relinquish so I could buy a fc house. after 45 days it relinquished at just over 30mill and the initial price same plot was 72 mill....
So its actually a silly system may as well give 100% back as you wont be able to buy that same house with 20% more....
on a side note large at 200 item cap was always half empty but managed to get a lavender med though I wanted a mist med but they go so fast....
Housing reclamation wasn't really designed for people to rebuy their own houses though. It was their response to inactive players having houses and giving active players a chance to get those houses. I can only guess at the reasons for only giving us 80% back, but I suspect it's partly because that makes it's still a gil sink, partly to sweeten the blow to players that lose their houses and probably because originally when we bought the houses we didn't expect any thing back as there was (and still is) no official sell method.
If you got your house for what must have been around 38 million and it sells new for 72 million then it was already severely deflated before you bought it. All new houses (whether relinquished manually or by reclamation) start back at their original price and slowly deflate over time again (assuming they stay around long enough for that to happen).
Owner has to come on. Can you get him to resub before the time limit of demolition is up? If so, he could relenquish ownership and you could buy it. People are doing that all the time selling them in PF. Just do it at an obscure time or something.
