So recently got a new gaming keyboard and razer naga for christmas along with this game for ps4 only to realize that razer naga support has been discontinued from the ps4. Would it be smarter to go about using a controller or am i gimping myself even harder by using that?:confused:
Sorry your razer naga and the specialty keys from a gaming keyboard aren't compatible. Frustrating if that's what you were planning on. :(
A controller isn't as configurable as a razer naga, but for everything except chat it holds its own quite well versus a standard keyboard / mouse. (Controller > keyboard/mouse for movement and activating skills. Keyboard/mouse > controller for targeting and ground-placed actions. Overall, it's pretty much a wash, and some players prefer one, some the other.) The only thing you definitely want a keyboard for with the PS4 is chat, but any regular keyboard works for that much. I think most PS4 players go with keyboard for chat and controller for everything else.
I also use my keyboard for most of my menu commands and (whenever I get around to it) out-of-combat macros. That'll free up a bunch of controller hotbar space for more abilites. That might also be something else to consider as well. ;]
I use a $10 Logitech keyboard for chatting and most menu command on PS4, and I use the controller for everything else. Of course if I'm playing with any fellow PS4 players I have a PSN party going with my headset on for communication. It works really well for me, but of course to each their own.
Pretty sure the only real benefit of a kb/m is typing faster, thus better communication.
And, of course, if you're more used to it then you'll handle it better regardless.
I play with PS4 controller and a keyboard on my lap, it's sometimes difficult to type during a dungeon because my hands are on the controller, but other than that, most times I can type out something quickly and keep up. I like that combination, I've never been able to get used to moving a character in a 3D environment using keys and mouse. Maybe that works well in a first person environment? Not sure, but with a 3rd person view I find it looks un-natural, and far prefer the control scheme and movement with a controller.
I will fully admit to using what most ps4 players do. Keyboard for chat and controller for other actions. I have admittedly gotten so used to this setup that when I'm using FFXIV on my laptop I will be using the exact same setup. Logitech can be pretty useful for that I think. But my younger brother is using the normal computer setup for his so it all boils down to what you prefer, as others have already said.
keyboard and mouse, I play on pc though have tryed ps4 styled controler and just dosent feel right like a keyboard.

Using controller is not gimping yourself. The gameplay is very smooth, very competent, very usable. Nothing 'gimpish' about it.
