Text: Alc Lv30 Quest Title

I think this might be a typo but I just flagged the Lv30 Alchemist quest and it is named as

"The Boy and the Dragon Gay" here is a image link

Why would that be a typo?

Thinker, Fighter, Lover, Possible Connotation Conservative

I can see where it'd go over the heads of some (not you), but, as far as removing the stylistic choice of words that the LOC team chose; I think the circumstances of the story fit the title pretty well, even if the word can be misconstrued by those who lack maturity and/or archaic definitions (again, not you).

What else would you suggest?

Did you play through the questline? They tell the story of the "Boy and the Dragon Gay." They repeat it several times.

This is style, pure and simple.

So it HAD to be dragon gay! Joking...gay also means "happy" or "spirited"...just too bad the slang meaning always is the first one to come in mind. ^^:

I'm well aware of its old meanings just thought with its more modern connotations it could be misconstrued

as for a suggestion A simple "The boy and the Dragon" would do. Also having done the quest the dragon didn't give off an air of beaning "happy" in the old sense. anyway its just something I pointed out and not asking for a change. Just to be clear the title doesn't bother me at all.

You have my apologies, in that case. It was no way intended to be rude or insinuative; it was just meant as a play on the title of the story within the quest itself and then a comment about evaluating the word's value or lack thereof in-game. I'll edit my comment a bit to make it a little more clear that I'm not trying to be rude, just... confused as to why you'd be so disquieted by the mention of the word gay in this context.

A lot of words can have connotations that drastically change how they're perceived, but I'd think that maturity can trump discomfort in cases like these. Even the connotation that "gay" meant something else a hundred years ago makes us immediately assume, regardless of the word's connotations in Eorzea, that this story took place a while back. I think that's part of the point.

Compared to NPCs telling me things like that they'll "hang me from the front of their ship by my manhood," or that certain enemies have "dropped bigger turds than [a lalafell]," - even if this wasn't a completely innocent context - I just don't see it as controversial in the least.
