Exactly this, is it worth the hassle to try to buy a house?
I kind of need explaining about how someone does buy a house.
Also, even if I did have the money for a house would I even be able to buy one? Is the market that scarce?
I am interested in owning a house but if it's some thirsty bloodbath where it's basically camping for houses and whoever clicks fastest wins then I think I'll just keep on moving, I've had enough of those clickfests when I used to play Archeage.
Since for whichever reason there isn't any mechanic to allow a person to freely trade his property you have two options:
1. Pay seller gil, seller relinquishes the house, and you quickly claim the plot.
Con: Have to rely on seller being legitimate and on nobody being there to snatch the relinquished house before you.
2. Pay seller, seller invites you to his FC, makes you leader, and hands over FC to you along with the house.
Con: Having to leave your FC and join the other. Then having to rename that FC.
PS: I've been around during Archeage. In this game it is not as bad since gardening isn't as big money as it was there. Being on moderately populated server I haven't seen swarms of 20-30 people with click macros trying to snatch houses. There are also some houses occasionally sold on PF for a very reasonable price.
