The Elementals and artificial souls (Anima quest)

I was wondering if there's a connection there? Or is it just the devs re-using old assets?

Elementals were prevalent during 1.0, but in 2.0 you only saw one briefly in the lv. 25 CNJ quest.

We don't know much about the Elementals other than they being sentient beings composed of aether and residing within the world and are sensitive of the aether stream. The anima quest line is us trying to create a soul, with the weapon acting like a device to store that soul + a way to absorb ambiant aether from everything we kill.

Could the Elementals have been created a long time ago? As far as I know Elementals aren't reproducing in any shape and form.

Or it's just them using old assets since it's pretty clear Elementals won't make any physical appearance from here on out?

No connection, probably just a coincidence.

Devs are already grasping at straws to keep people logged in and recycling old content with this questline, I doubt they are reaching into 1.0 lore to craft this epic multi-layered story relating to past events. Just trying to make the treadmill longer.

I have a feeling that is Anima.

Well. Elementals are living beings made entirely of Aether to it could be possible that combining the Zodiac Weapon's sense of self (mind) with the Anima Weapons sense of being (soul) along with the Weapon's ability to absorbe Aether/matter/energy (body) that we may have inadvertently created an artificial life form that JUST SO HAPENS to look simmilar to a physically manifested Elemental.

After all, 9 1/3 times out of 10 the Elementals don't appear physically at all. So that could simply be how beings of pure Aether take form with out making an actual living body.
