Levelling an alt

I' ve been considering doing it for crafting purposes. I am extremely annoyed though as, to get to Ishgard, that would mean going through everything AGAIN. I can only play about 5 hours a day, and getting an alt to 50 is likely to take me a week.

The ultimate purpose would be to level up 2 alts, to have access to all craft specialists. I can ´ t even express how deep my pain is to have to do so.

Levelling them would also mean, sacrificing my main for a while, and I ve got so much to do with it yet. Anima, scrips, gearing up...

Have you guys done that ? It has been 2 years since I last had to level up a job to 50 and I lost track of the exp. nerfs. How fast can it be done these days if I am to focus on MSQ, skip all cutscenes and rush through directly to Ishgard (I ´d be levelling whm for faster queues)

All advice will be greatly appreciated.

1) This clearly isn't a lore-related question, and the post would have likely received more relevant attention in the General Discussion or New Player sub-forums.

2) I don't understand why you need to create two alternate characters just to focus on crafting. Have you missed the memo about how one character could potentially master all classes/jobs? Do check it out. It'd potentially save you from all the frustration of having to gain access to Ishgard on two brand new characters.

3) The speed of progression varies from player to player. But it's not unheard of for level 50 characters to hit 60 within a week. Going from one to 50 takes about just as much time, probably a lot less, if you rush through the content.

You may be right. English isn't my main language, I thought "Lore" meant MSQ, hence why I posted here. Other than that, I have no idea what memo you're referring to ? I have all jobs 50 + (all60 in crafts/gather) and I have absolutely no idea how one can master all specialists crafts 60 without level an alt (as switching speciality is too greedy red-scrip-wise)

I'd be more concerned about the time it would take to level up again in all of the crafting classes rather than the time it takes to level a primary combat job and go through the MSQ again.

(I'd like to do this, too, but my schedule has gotten too sporadic to manage even one character very well. I'll probably never get very far with my others.)

Keep in mind that it takes longer to level a first job on a new character than it does to level an additional job on an established character. The new character won't be getting the Armoury Bonus that gives 100% extra XP from 1-50. (Well, it was probably giving 50% extra last time you did it, if that was a couple years ago.)

Lore and the Main Scenario are connected, but not quite the same thing. "Lore" refers to the world the game is set in, its history, cultures, and events that take place there. The Main Scenario is one of the primary ways we learn that lore. But it's the story those quests are telling that falls under "lore". The gameplay aspect of those same quests (like how long it takes to play through them) doesn't.

I'm still hoping that they'll eventually make switching easier (maybe by the time I get that far, since I still have quite a ways to go). I don't know how likely that is to happen, though.
