At first, they don't seem connect-able, implying coincidence...
When Final Fantasy mentions the relative of a Cid, it often contains a "Mid". Being an engineer and FFXIV being rooted in Greek mythology, Midas probably seemed like a really great name for Cid's father (1.18). Then along comes Alexander (3.10). In Greek myth Alexander the Great ... "solved" ... the Gordian knot (made by Gordias, father of King Midas) as a symbol of his power and right.
So you have two places where the name fits for use in-world, two places where the name was used. However, as far as we know, Midas nan Garland was a loyal Garlean and Alexander is tied to the Enigma Codex, which is some decades older than he (and, as far as we know, the Empire's widespread resurrection of machina, for that matter) and seems more connected to Sharlayan than Garlemald (and the two were not on friendly terms). It was written in a time when Sharlayans were in Eorzea, and the Sharlayans built what was in it ... though I'm not sure we were ever explicitly told that the author was Sharlayan, were we? My memory on Alexander is not so good.
I suppose Midas could have been named for something in the Codex, in some convoluted twist of fate...
Unless I'm forgetting some crucial information (not unlikely on matters of Alexander; especially not whilst in the middle of a holiday bake-off).
We also have Mide, whose name is some what similar to Midas and Mid.
I feel like it adds up too much for it to be a mere coincidence. Some people on reddit speculated that the third, and likely final, section of Alexander will be called Alexander: Leonidas in lieu of keeping up with the Greek naming scheme.
With Cid being heavily involved with the Alexander plot-line, maybe we will see some ties to the Garleans in Alexander: Midas. I have a feeling they wouldn't involve Cid if he wasn't going to have some big role other than giving us a way to deactivate Alexander. But I wonder where that leaves Mide in all this, and her missing companion she went all on about in Gordias. (aka, "touching scar intensifies")
