initially the game update wouldn't occur because of certain files in the boot, however after deleting these files the update would proceed until the progress bar was almost filled. but than this would occur:

in case the image does not work than the error file was "File access failed during update. [11020][30204][19900][5]"
what can i do to fix this?
Just to rule it out: Are you launching as admin?
Otherwise security might be causing problems... Windows Defender, firewall, antivirus, etc. Try disabling or adding exceptions for the xiv files/folders
Otherwise could be bad files cached or something. Could try flushing the Internet Explorer cache (inetcpl.cpl from search/run)--while in there check the SSL encryption section on the advanced tab to make sure the TLS options are enabled. Maybe clear the Java cache as well (control panel)--check there for TLS options as well while you are at it.
Restart your computer, you might have a windows update in progress preventing you from updating.
I have been running the game as an admin, yes. and how would i go about clearing the IE cache? i don't use IE to any real degree.
from the search/run box run inetcpl.cpl to get to the Windows/MSIE internet properties page.
Have you tried the reboot as well? Often forget that tidbit myself... I almost never hibernate myself and don't run auto winupdates either, so often forget that annoying windows installer problem.
I reset the computer, that didn't work so i set the IE security to the lowest settings i could on custom, that didn't work either. i'm very confused as to why it will not work.
