I think it has something to do with the launcher. friend is having the same problem, but another is fine. The one having the problem's launcher didn't update. the friend just backed up and tried multiple times and it worked so good luck.

what you mean by "backed up" tried restarting the game multiple times and didnt work and i dont want to have to re-install with an 800kbs download speed ; ;
EDIT: might be worth mentioning im on the steam version

Reset your launcher; you're trying to download the patch with the current launcher you had before patch hit. Turn patcher off, then restart FFXIV and it'll upload the launcher, allowing you to then upload the patch. Had the same problem myself.

Wasn't maintenance slated 4 hours as usual?

sorry i was a bit confusing. what my friend did was enabled automatic downloads of updates(requires psplus) while the system is in rest mode. she didn't turn the system off or anything, so i'm not sure that's what helped. she just went into the browser again and it worked. again I'm not sure that is what helped her get the browser to update. maybe it was just luck.
